Has anyone considered the following:
You display Adsense on your site for a relatively low competitive KW. However, the people that advertise using that KW have a HIGH max bid. Usually an organization or corp that sells that product or service. But since there are not many advertisers, they only pay a small amount for contextual advertising. That is, until you start running your own contextual ads at highly competitive rates. But your ads suck, and no one clicks on them. But, they do click on the KW's that once cost the advertiser .30 cents, but now $3.50 Im going to test this out in the coming weeks and will let you all know how it goes. There is the chance that the advertiser will catch on, but hopefully not for hundreds, if not thousands of dollars later. Chances are, they dont even monitor their adwords account.
