why does everyone boner over netbooks? personally i rather a tablet.
the way things are going, theres no reason to even have a real keyboard. all phones are touchscreen. the tablet is just goin in that direction.
i think its a lot more convenient and feels more natural to touch a screen and do things instead of having a mouse or a touchpad ... having a keyboard is nice, but besides typing i think touch is the winner

This is correct. There is this company called Apple (AAPL: Summary for Apple Inc.- Yahoo! Finance) in case you haven't heard of it Affiliati. Apple has a very loyal following known as fanboi(grl)s who buy every apple product they can afford be it phone/laptop/tablet due to complete devotion to the brand.

Using a touch screen for everything is like using a cheese grater for everything. For some things it's great. For other things, not so great.
touch screens for typing anything are fucking awful. that's why blackberries are so much better for anything other than whacking off to bejeweled.
a physical keyboard is great but thats about it, i fucking hate blackberries .. i have one.
but think about just fucking around online when u dont have to type, if you could just touch the website u want to go to instead of typing it in
the major advantages i see to tablets is just being able to browse easier than using a mouse/touchpad.
imho i dont think that everything should be a tablet .. but i think that all laptops should be touchscreen as well. i'm also not down for the 10" screen. if my 14" hp notebook had a touchscreen id be completely satisfied
point in case, the blackberry storm (with NO dedicated keyboard) makes me want to break shit

I can probably type 40 words a minute on my blackberry and an iphone I might squeeze off 15 words total with half being mis-spelt. That probably saves me 20 minutes a day, alone.
I dunno, how about a backlit screen, millions of colours, multitouch, scrolling, video, sound, robust email and internet browsers, a million applications, games, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
I'm no fanboi, and will most likely never get an Apple tablet, but that was kind of a dumb question.
What would be an interesting idea is having a macbook-like shell to snap the screen into when you want a physical keyboard. Could possibly boot up the Mac OS when the screen in snapped in? I think I've seen something like this in another tablet and thought it was a decent idea.

Yea, I have an iPhone, and a macbook pro, and LOVE the shit out of them, but I still cannot see the reasoning behind a tablet that's basically a giant iphone.
i agree.. i tend to notice that most people who don't mind on-screen keyboards are people who already type waaaay slower than me on a physical keyboard. so of course they don't care, as they have a few % speed loss whereas i type 10x slower on one.
Looks like Apple is going to might disappoint again. Wanted an Apple netbook, and they released the damn Air. Was considering the Slate / Apple Tablet but if it is huge (as it looks spy shot) and just a giant iPhone/iPod, might have to pass. Really depends on the GUI,keyboard implementation and computing power. Also would like for it to be full OSX.
I suppose it would be good to designers who are on the move and wish to save their ideas.
Creative graphic designers can even work on a simple modeling because rendering is anyway out of question.
