Airport Security?

You don't need to do body scan, a pat down will be alternative. I'd rather do a pat down.
I usually like to read through threads completely before commenting... I will later.
But I just flew to NYC for the weekend so obviously went through Canadian and US security/immigration. I fly at least a few times a month (usually international) and have had a metal detector go off once, never been searched and never been randomly selected to go through the full body "naked" scanners.
I still, almost a decade after 9/11, see people go through with belts on or wallets in their pockets.
Hurr if you set off metal detectors you'll get searched, if not you 99.9% of the time won't durrr
Airport security is redundant and incompetent but be courteous, take off all necessary shit, give them your boarding card with a smile and leave in peace instead of being an arrogant asshole bent on making their job hell because you're too good to take off your belt since you think it's not necessary.
I know I deposit more in the little bucket than these guys make in a year, but most are hard workers trying to support their families and I respect they don't make the rules they try to follow them.
I think they profile more on lifestyle then race. I've never seen someone dressed well that has tipped off the metal detector get searched or randomly selected. It's always the people that look like they just rolled out of bed who are grumbling because they failed to read any signs, be courteous, or respect these are just guys doing their job.
Note: I'm white so everything I say is invalid.
Seriously though this isn't a rant against OP since he's a great guy (took your suggestion on the Mac stuff, just arrived today!) buy security literally took me at Toronto, Montreal and LGA less than twenty minutes. From the moment I dropped my stuff in the cup to getting it on the other side it took like five minutes.
...People act like security is like going through fucking hell. "OMG and THEN they made ME take out my water bottle because it was 2L instead of the 100ml limit! OMG FML! lol they're so stupid... took forever".
I've never spent any amount of time at security because I never have any metal on me going through the scanner, no liquids in my bag and smile and nod. It takes five minutes to suck it up dump your shit, walk through, pick up your shit and then go. It's just like at immigration it's always the people who feel they're too good for it who take forever... I travel with large cash amounts, new purchases, whatever and I never spend more than five minutes there too.

I totally agree, and I in no way want to mess with security. My main reason for posting was I don't keep up with the news and I didn't know if we were at a 100% search yet. All my reading today says that 80%+ of people just go though the metal detectors as always which is what I wanted to hear.
Now I just need to figure out if I want to buy a $120 kilt incase I am in the other 20%.

Now, let's get to the pat-downs. From accounts I've read, they're not the "regular" pat-downs. They're intrusive. Really intrusive.
Now, you may be fine with some big dude gently nestling your balls aside so he can check for devices in the crevices. Hey, some people pay for that service. Good for them. But I don't want it. The only person touching my balls is the person I give permission to. And there better be something better coming down the line.
I sure as hell don't want some TSA employee feeling up my little sister, or my daughter. "Don't worry, sir. Your daughter just has amazing tits, and I need to lift one to see if she's packing C-4."
Uh-huh.
So, here we have the revealing scans of your sis, dad, and grandma. We also have the "newly-improved" pat-downs. And experts are now saying neither are doing much good. Imagine that.
Oh, we also have the TSA promising that the "sexy" images of your sister, dad, and grandma cannot be saved because the machines are calibrated to delete them immediately.
Do I have to mention this is a fucking lie that has already been debunked several times. And while TSA employees are courteous, I do not trust them. The TSA background check does not weed out the riffraff. You may not care that this guy...

I can vouch for this... I'm not white, and I travel a lot. If race was the issue, I'd be getting scrutinized every time. Funny enough, the only time I've been subject to a full body search is in Dubai (same race). Not because I "stood out", but because they felt a 21-year old [at that time] can't afford a $16k ticket without selling drugs. Pricks literally took out everything and examined it for the smallest trace of narcotics. Dress normal, be polite, follow the rules, and usually you'll be on your way.
Otherwise, if you're too precious to put up with this shit -- fly private. Can't fly private? Deal with it like the rest of us peasants. They're not getting any satisfaction out of this, it's to keep us safe, so suck it up darlings.

LOL - NOTHING post 9/11 has made us ANY safer.
Go back to how it was on Sep 10, 2001 and we'll all be JUST as safe, and a LOT less hassled/delayed/angry.
However- you wouldn't have huge defense budgets and multi-million dollar 'safe' machines being scooped up by the truckload - and as such that won't ever happen.

Thick fabric also? Nice in winter season.
Also, the scanners fail to detect anything hidden in orifices (under the tongue, for example) or under wide clothing.
The images should not be stored.. but HA!

- Porno scanners that work only to provide naked imagery to fap to.
