ReMarketing
5. Not understanding View Thru conversions. These guys seen your ads on the display network but maybe didn't convert and didn't click on the banner ad itself. They came back later and converted elsewhere BUT they did see your remarketing banner ( but came back to the site via domain type in or another search ad ). You need to count these conversions like you would a branding campaign. This makes remarketing powerful. I generally count each View Thru conversion has .5 a conversion since they really didn't click on that banner to convert, but got assisted in the conversion.

How do you track this?

eliquid, do you know if there is a way to only target the first 3 spots? I do not want my ad to appear on the side as I'm trying to take advantage of the long title form.

do you have any fb bidding strategies that you could share?

I normally do CPC and bid high and gradually lower it.. but sometimes it kills the traffic and low volume and etc...

right now i'm doing intl' with 4-5 million demo and i have hard time getting volume. mainly from newsads. how can i keep hitting my budget and maxing out my daily??

Thank you!!

Its a metric right in your reporting when you log in.

yes, set up automated bid rules to raise bids if your average placement is below 3.5. Id would bid it up by 10% and use the prior day's average as data.

make ads every 10 minutes over and over again all day and bid above the suggest on CPC. Also you could do CPM but your CTR might get shitty

Update:

Wanted to drop in on this thread.

I noticed I was at 6900+ posts and reviewed some of what I posted before and came across this and thought I would bump it with some more info.

Couple of things I have been doing more of recently:

1. Examining Geolocations for not only positive ROI, but negative. Say you notice that California landed you 9 leads, but there were at a negative ROI. Many noob PPC guys would just cut California as a state completely out. However, you need to dig into California and look at the Neilson Region and you might see that the Los Angles area is producing 7 of those leads in a positive ROI, but all the other areas are not... just cut them only.

2. Sticking the date in your ads. You have to automate this via Scripts in Adwords, but you can add a date to your ads and update them every day. This way your ads might say in the Description line #2 "Sign Up Before 4/3/2014"

3. Testing out "Search and Selected Display". This is a new campaign type similar to Search and Display, but with better Display targeting built into Adwords. I have been testing it on Campaigns and it has been working out pretty well for leads and direct sales.

Thanks for keeping this thread going Eliquid. I'm starting my PPC role in a week (change of career) and plan on running some PPC affiliate sites so will take time to digest this.

Sorry for the double post (I didn't read the earlier pages in time to edit my previous one).

The main concern from reading this thread and a quick google search is that affiliates sites seem to be dead in the water on Adwords. Is this the case? I didn't plan on starting with adwords but obviously it's a severe limiter on traffic if expansion to adwords is a no no.

Thanks in advance.

Need your services

I'm seriously interested in starting a ppc program for testing purposes. Since I can't send pm's yet, is there any other way to get in contact with you? Skype? I looked for a contact form on your site but couldn't locate one. Been following this thread for a while and now I'm ready to pull the trigger.

I'd like to discuss how your services are priced and if my niche is viable for ppc. I'm assuming it is, just need confirmation from a professional such as yourself. It would be a very focused geo-targeting campaign for the US market only and would change on a regular basis.
