Obama bends over to suck on the Japanese Emperor's Zamboni

Obama's bowing does make me miss Bush's swaggaring ways

The worst part of this episode is that it diverts attention from issues that are far more important.

A lot of you focus on things like the Fed, economics, pure capitalism, property rights, and individual liberties (and everything that falls under that umbrella). But, most folks don't. Instead, they work 10 hours a day, come home, eat dinner, have sex, and sit in front of their TVs before going to bed. They spend their limited time watching Fox News, MSNBC, et al. and focusing on this type of specious claptrap.

If anything, this tripe hampers the populace's motivation to learn and educate themselves. In a week, the bow will be forgotten. Meanwhile, problems like this are practically swept under the rug in the wake of massive pending health care reform.

Heck, if I were Obama (or Axelrod), I'd be ecstatic at the level of play this is getting. By December, no one will remember. In the meantime, it sidetracks the national discourse on weightier issues.

its a custom you fucktard... get over it.

It's not a custom for leaders to bow to other leaders. All Presidents have realized that up until Obama. Even Clinton and Carter refused to bow while in office. Leaders shake hands, they are equals.

Not exactly a novel idea:
Bush bowed to Arab leaders on several occasions. Get over it, it's called showing respect in some cultures.

However, it's been said, that every time a president bows to someone, God kills a kitten.

Something was being placed around Bush's neck in this photo.

We're the policing force of the entire world because no other country will stand up to do it. So if we want to act proud we're more than allowed.

you act as if being a global "policing force" is a noble thing. it's not - especially when the policing has different motives behind it

:usa:

Wrong. 47 other world leaders met with the Japanese Emp that day and only 1 bowed, our pussy president Obama.

That just means that those 47 other world leaders aren't as cultured as our president. Who fucking cares if he bowed? Just because he is the most powerful man in the world doesn't mean he has to flaunt it.

Not as cultured? :321: That's a pretty retarded statement

What would you prefer I say? Sensitive to other cultures? Worldy? Culturally aware? Knowledgeable of other country's customs?

Whatever you call it, he's smart enough to know how to communicate with various cultures around the world. One thing no one here has mentioned is that Obama is from Hawaii, the most culturally diverse state in the country. We know WAY more about other cultures than the average American and most heads of state for that matter.

It's been a tradition for the President of the US to act like he's the fucking man. I good solid hand shake would have sufficed. Anyways, he's making the country look bad when he's out acting like a little baby vagina.

I actually get this.

It is kinda fucked up Obama bowed. I rather him being an equal.

We might as well post the video of this event...

:goes off to research how bowing in Japan really works:

-------

Still leaning towards this was merely customary and moot, however.

"Bows can be generally divided into three main types: informal, formal, and very formal. Informal bows are made at about a fifteen degree angle and more formal bows at about thirty degrees. Very formal bows are deeper.

Generally speaking, an inferior bows longer, more deeply and more frequently than a superior. A superior addressing an inferior will generally only nod the head slightly, while some superiors may not bow at all and an inferior will bend forward slightly from the waist."

Nothing to see here guys...move along.

Okay, I'm definitely showing my age here but I remember when Ron and Nancy Reagan visited Britain and they had an audience with the queen and they didn't so much as nod their heads and everybody understood that the president of the US doesn't bow to ANYBODY. It's a protocol thing.
Heads of state ALWAYS have protocol advisers in this sort of situation but it looks like someone will probably lose their job over this because it's definitely a diplomatic boo-boo (but nothing more than that. In the 21st century, who really cares about that, excluding WWII vets who fought in the Pacific who are probably really pissed)

And for the record, he only shaked as well.

Though least the Japanese emperor bowed back with Obama. That didn't happen when he bowed over in the Middle East (least I can't find any footage of it happening).

I don't care what the fuck is customary over there in Japan (or anywhere else). It's the fucking United States of fucking America. No US president should ever bow to fucking anybody. We're the fucking super power here and this mother fucker needs to show it. He acts like a little fucking pussy who got the shit kicked out of him repeatedly.

This would be like walking into someone's house and refusing to take your shoes off because you don't at your own.

"I don't take my fucking shoes off in my house, I refuse to do it in yours!"

I bet you're a real nice guest......
