I'll go out on a limb and give you my take on why what happened happened.
Forums take on a life of their own, this one is no exception. It's like a party. You wouldn't barge into a party where you know noone (or maybe one person) and start telling everyone how much you know, how much you make, all while holding your Amway satchel next to your side. They'll not only be annoyed, but they'll be waiting for the Amway pitch because you've got the bag next to you (whether you intended to use it or not).
Then....if you happen to be at an Amway-Haters party, it's even MORE crucial that you take some time to mingle and get to know people before becoming the center of attention. Otherwise, everyone is still checking out that Amway bag suspiciously and waiting to hit you with their Anti-Amway light sabers.
Whether the original poster's intentions were honorable or not, the fact is he jumped right into an Anti-Amway gathering and said HEY LOOK AT ME AND IGNORE MY AMWAY BAG AND I'M GOING TO TELL YOU HOW TO SELL STUFF BETTER IN A NON-AMWAY WAY EVEN THOUGH I HAVE AN AMWAY BAG!!!!!

I totally understand your analogy, however, with that being said, are you telling me that unless you have been on this forum for months on end that you have nothing to add to the conversation about making money online.
As for Steve C. don't know him from Atom, but let's say for argument sake, he was embellishing the amount he has made or how quickly and often he sells membership forums. You still gonna say that he didn't say anything useful.
The difference between his post and BetaIdiot was that he did offer to answer questions, he EVEN said hey I put my nuts out there for you guys to wack with a hammer. And boy did we gang up on the guy.
As for him ever selling an ebook, or even if he gave thought at anytime of doing so, is that totally wrong? My only dislike of ebooks is in the area of making money online and selling them to internet marketing community. What if the guy was gonna offer an ebook that provided information about something outside of the making money online niche?
What ends up happening is people who trully have something to contribute are gonna lurk, see this thread and say, "fuck those guys over at WF,aint no way Im gonna put my nutz in a vice for them".
Thats what I was getting at in my last post, he put out some nuggets that got lost in the shuffle. And I am not sure how many actually paid attention. Even Jon said that some of what he said was ok. He just had questions about the ease of doing such.

I don't think you will get a honest and good analysis of such from most of the people here. I believe that the one bad thing about the internet is that people love to tear down people. While his website is a bit spammy and cheesy, what catches the eye of the individual looking to create income online, a site that tells you about nothing but the ills of doing business online or highlighting the good?
I believe that Jon on his blog discussed "How to become a Celebrity Blooger". Who the fuck is gonna listen to John Chow everyday if he was posting pic of Hyundais on his banner? Or Shoemoney showing a check for $153 on his site.
Once again, the only problem I see in Internet Marketing is when the rats attempt to eat their young. Marketing to those who have no idea and are desperate to find the 'secret" to making money online. SC didn't do that. While he may be a bit of a fraud, he DID have some knowledge of membership sites and he was consistent in his story, never attempting to revise, only to correct? So hey, I don't know?
But, did he not give some of you some ideas to play with though? I mean, is there not a Jon, or SEO Mike, or whoever, who has the smarts and the background to actually begin a membership site and make it work?
