we are going to do a arbi test!

Just taking a guess here, but I'd imagine that everyone's CTR would increase by having a horizontal navigation bar with four or five "link unit" ads (vs. "ad unit"). Set a background image for the ad space that makes the links appear as tabs - users think its navigation for the site and would be more likely to click(?). The first tab would still be the "Ads by Google" tab though.

Has anyone tested this? Care to share the results?

I'd imagine that this doesn't comply with Google's TOS - so it may not be worth the risk...
Ad and image placement: a policy clarification

I used to use a wordpress theme that had such a link unit. the ctr was decent and it complied with the adsense tos(dunno if it still does). Still,I imagine that the big adsense blocks will still get a higher ctr than the link unit but since the link unit will be at the top of the site it will have the highest paying ads so not really worth it imo. I could be wrong tho, didn't test this with arbi yet.

Guys, I wrote a tool to monitor what search queries lead visitors to my arbi/aff sites, what keyword work best, what rankings my organic hits have and so on. It has become pretty popular now as some a-list bloggers picked it up (see signature).

I use it to monitor all my arbi sites (that's why I wrote it in the first place) and to deliver aggregated stats. It might be useful for you too; lemme know if you need additional features!

Gonna try that one.

Thanks,

Is 7search still the search engine of choice? It appears that arbitrage is now officially against their TOS.

I think 7search is slowly dieing. There is no engine of choice. you have to find something that works and just go with it.

Cool, be sure to let me know if anything is missing for the modern internet marketer :-) Going to add action tracking soon, so one can set up action goals (clicks on ads/links, subscriptions, ...) and monitor what search terms convert best for what actions.

Nice thread.

What analytics tools do you guys use?

I guess it's not to hard to find out what CTR each keyword is bringing.

It's probably very hard though to automate any analytics if you want to see exactly how much you paid for certain keyword and how much revenue it brought.

Any ideas and suggestions?

Awesome thread! A big thanks to all who've contributed...

Anyone using SEOBook's AdSense tracker?
Track Google AdSense Clicks via Google Analytics - Free AdSense Tracker

Could come in pretty handy for Arbi conversion tracking....

Anyone?

I'm using it, or if it was an updated version from somewhere else. Works great for arbi. Use the analytics part, most popular entry pages, if the entry pages are like domain.com?kw=keyword, you will see % of clicks on ads for that keyword.

Hi guys, thanks for all the great info. Of course, I have a question.

Should I stick with strictly one page sites or would multipage sites help? My concern is smartpricing, and maybe a multi-page site helps prevent arbi detection and therefore less chance of smartpricing. Of course this requires page leak, but it seems like there is a chance for it to work.

I think sticking with one page is the go ... and smartprcing apparently is based across all the sites you have adsense on so dicking around with one site isn't going to accomplish anything.

I shouldn't be showing this but seeing everyone else is selflessly sharing heres an excellent arbi page setup.

id be careful with that page, theres no real content on there.

just to give you guys a heads up, dont do anything related to music for arbi. Man that thing sucks. I forgot most people bootleg music so i get the same profits as music labels nowadays....barely anything...

16 clicks for .02

>_> Shut that site down as soon as i saw that unbalance LOL

LOL... i see so many pages like that. and NO, that page sucks cause whoever is running it will most likely get banned if google found out.

And it just serves to definitely give google more bad impressions about arbitrage and arbitragers.:alert:

Fuck me...took the better part of two days on and off to read this thread. It apears the test has run its course.

Funny thing after reading all the post from start to finish seems this thread has lost a few folks in the testing phase.

I will say this....I have found some bitchin ideas, seems I'm not the only one to waste a lil time and money on golf and acne....lol

I can tell you what did not work for me....trying arbi on google....felt like I took one up the ass after that go around.

The point is that the page converts.
What people are missing is an arbi site doesn't need content, in fact the less content the better, it doesn't need to be up for ever, the idea is to stick it up for a few days, milk it and then change the url. the purpose isn't to get ranked in the serps, it's to make as much money as possible then move on.

And from experience the chances of Google booting you for a page like that, at the moment, are about 1billion to 1.
Stick images next to the ads though and the chances increase significantly.
