Would you consider this unethical?

Sounds like a lot of work for 25%. Have you thought about capturing lead data and marketing other stuff to them as well as selling the ebook?

He'd be getting a lot more than 25%. If you do a lot of volume yourself affiliates will come, not to mention if you actually go out and do some recruiting. You could add small upsells or high priced backend products. You could build a customer list you could promote related products. A LOT more jv opportunities when you own the product. There's a lot of other benefits that add up as well. Holding sales during Christmas, Black Friday, etc.

And if you're in a somewhat small niche you'd have a better ROI then all the competing affiliates so you could afford to pay more and still profit, so it makes scaling easier.

And most importantly, it would be an asset so you could sell the business. I've seen many clickbank products sell in the six figure range.

As far as writing the book... that can be a little tricky. There's nothing wrong with copying a simple info product business model, but you got to make sure everything is written unique. Sales page, ebook, etc.

Fuck ethics and make monies for a couple weeks or maybe even years. Use ethical behavior and build a career and a business that will pay you for a lifetime.
Exactly, I believe building a true long-standing business model is always helped by an ethical approach. The question is what do you consider ethical? As far as the OPs question, I see NOTHING unethical about that idea, you will be creating a new product, not copy and pasting. There are no new ideas left.

Wrong.

There is no such thing as ethics anymore, and even if so, most companies are built on unethical behavior.

But if saying that makes you feel better go for it.

hurting people, i don't like, hurting competitors, i don't give a fuck. Good advice in here, also with Clickbank, it is so much easier to ripoff campaigns. Their review team, will make sure it's a legit copy and original though, so be careful and take the time/hire someone on it via Odesk etc....

Clickbank is a good way to find out if your digital product can convert, cheap and effective. I wish physical products were that easy. :)

good luck!

There is a difference between being unethical and living in the gray. I would rather live in the gray and make less money then the guy who is cheating and making more because eventually he either gets banned from his networks, or his customers stop buying, or what ever the situation. Just remember you can sheer a sheep many times but you can only skin it once.

You can only make money by being unethical. :anon.sml: <truth> I just want to lie to myself so I can feel good about being a scammer </truth>

And OP if your product is legit then what's so wrong about this? It's just competition...

This is why i said there is no such thing as unethical...

In order to be in the grey you are creating your own "ethics" and deciding its not right, but not totally wrong. It just a point of view that helps you sleep at night.

That being said, obviously it is smarter to milk someone out of there money longer and for more. Wait, and you say that is more ethical? dun dun dun

They had to get the idea from somewhere, what your doing is fine, good luck.

> Just remember you can sheer a sheep many times but you can only skin it once

lol Australian Aesopica lol

Remember too, that if they've covered their bases, this could be copyright infringement depending on several factors.

I'm doing well with a few clickbank e-books, but I'm only getting ~75% of the profit since I'm just an affiliate. Plus, the owner gets sales from other affiliates, gets the e-mail list, etc.

Would it be unethical to rewrite their ebook, and create my own clickbank product? Not to mention I could possibly get better conversions if I came up with a better sales page, site design, etc. Basically taking an existing clickbank product, and using it as a template to create something new that would be a direct competitor.

What's your opinion?

I used to be a bit concerned with ethics. Fuck that, now I ask myself one question and one question only -- Is It Legal?

Regarding copyright infringement -- an idea can not be copyrighted.

Typically as long as no three words in a row are cribbed from the original your fine.

Its not like an ebook is a literary masterpiece -- and as you know, content writers are dirt cheap.

Personally, I do the writting, than hire a freelance editor to catch typos and suggest clarifications, ect. Just be clear with your editor that you can use their words exactly (if you like the way they phrase something and you retain the copyright).

Oh, and don't be pissed when your product and sales page are stolen.
