Several types of non-imm "O":
Retirement - over 55 and 800,000 baht in a Thai bank
Marriage - married to a Thai citizen and 400,000 baht in a Thai bank
ED - enrolled in a school with docs proving it

A tourist can't get that kind of visa. The best a tourist can do is get a 60 day visa before entering the country and then extend it once for another 30 days. Makes long stays a pain in the ass.

Here are the different Non Immigrant "o" visa you can apply as a foreigner

a) to visit Thai spouse/family
b) to visit non Thai family living in Thailand
c) to reside in Thailand if in possession of as residency permit
d) to participate as an unpaid volunteer worker in Thailand
e) to visit as a UK pensioner

It might have changed now but when I was bumming around Thailand around 6 years ago backpackers just travelled to a neighbouring country for a couple of days when their tourist visa was about to expire and and then came back into Thailand on a new tourist visa. From the islands Malaysia was the country of choice for doing this

Pictures begin now. Yal should check out greece, especially meteora and the beaches.

well you can still do that, but if you enter the country on land so will yo only get another 14 days, if you fly in so will you get 30.

I have Non Immigrant "O" Visa with multiple entries...

I can come and go as I want for a year, and stay up to 90 each visit.

Yeah, Thailand really hosed the visa runner crowd. Used to be that people could do a visa run to the border every month and stay indefinitely on a 30 day visa exempt stamp.

No casual work for foreigners either. Few opportunities to work legally, it would be shitty low paid work anyway, and working illegally is a ticket to the immigration detention center which is hell on earth. So forget about working here - just make your affiliate monies and pop into the bank to transfer some money now and then as you need it.

I'm on a non-imm O and haven't left the country in 4 years, just extend each year. But you have to be in one of the situations on the list so a tourist can't do that. Just get a 60 day tourist visa, extend it once for 30 more, then go somewhere else.

do you know of a place online to watch departures for non-canadians?

Sorry, I don't. I'm shocked that nobody has made a torrent, but the departures crew are pretty vigilant about piracy and purchasing the show seems to be the only way to see them minus cable or satellite. Youtube has lots of cool snippets (I assume you know this already.)

Travelled quite a bit in my youth. Cambodia is my favourite country. Still go to thailand every winter for some sun. Really family friendly if you have kids.

Traveled around Europe quite a bit, hit every country except Spain and Portugal. loved everywhere. Scandinavia for beautiful women in summer, depressing in winter, people are a little cold like the weather, very clean, food kind of sucks. Greece for fun, beaches and naked Scandinavian women, food is pretty good. Italy for good food, historic sites and dirty conditions with thieves everywhere and prices through the roof. Germany/Austria/Switzerland for beer, scenic mountains, efficiency, and rather unfriendly people. France for wine, food, topless crappy beaches and rude people. Czech for great old cities, great beer (home of pilsner and all) and a lot of really hot looking girls with dark red hair.

Visited a few places in the Caribbean - Aruba, Turks and Caicos, Dominican Rep, St. Maarten, Anguilla, Cancun/Mexico. Amazing beaches, friendly people in some places, food was mixed, awesome scuba diving, everything expensive, Mexico now a no-go due to drug wars funded by you drug users in America.

Started my tour of Asia and quickly got stuck in Thailand. Warm weather, friendly people, good food, reasonable prices (not so cheap anymore), gorgeous women, great beaches in the south, good golf (although cheaper and better in Colorado), good scuba diving but a little far (like Similans), party if you like, meditation retreat if you like. Nearby Laos is worth a trip, good coffee and food, some historical sites, friendly people, hidden dangers imposed by commie govt (illegal for a local girl to go with you to your room, beware). Other countries in Asia are on my list for a visit but don't appeal at all for long term stay due to various factors.

South America is what I have really missed out on. You young guys who have the chance should not miss it. Maybe even do a startup in Chile, they want you.

It's the people that make it for me. I can stay long term where they are friendly. Internet is a big concern if you are doing the internet monies. Spotty coverage so many places off the beaten track.

Anyone ever do a long stay in South America? I'm looking to move at the end of the year - maybe Argentina, Peru or Brazil and am looking for some insight/resources for visas and stuff. I'm hitting up all the embassies, but would rather hear from affiliates who've done something similar.

Was planning on moving to thailand for six months to a year, but after doing a bit of research it seemed like a bit of a pain in the ass.

My new plan is to go to thailand for three months, then go to the US to visit some family, then go to the carribean (grenada and the bahamas as I've got family and connections there). From there I will hit up south america and then I might go to europe on my way back to Australia depending on airfares/how I feel.

I'd also really like to visit more of outback Australia as well and do a huge road trip, but if I was to do this then I'd like to work a fair bit while I do it and do it pretty slowly, unfortunately I don't think our internet coverage is good enough so I'll probably wait a few years to do this.

...I'd also really like to visit more of outback Australia...

If you ever head out to see Ayers Rock, try to include Kings Canyon in the trip, it's well worth a visit. And if you go up north, don't miss Kakadu National Park...

I've traveled loads of places. I've lived in (ie. spent 6+ months in) -- Canada (home country), US, England, Hungary, Czech Republic, Malta, Malaysia, Thailand.

Plus obviously traveled to many more. Great way to open the mind!

Why the fuck are so many people moving to Thailand

Y'all into ladyboys and chicks that have the body of a 14 year old kid?

Since quitting my job and being full-time self employed in Sept 1, I've been to Amsterdam, Interlaken, Munich (Oktoberfest), Southern China (Guangzhou), Hong Kong, Macau, Austin TX, Vegas, home to Ohio twice, and then a surf trip to Panama and Costa Rica wedding.

Here's a video I took from the Panama Surf:

(that's me filming)

I love my fucking life. No more travel for a bit though, it's summertime and I don't want to leave the beach except for little CA camping trips

I like the travel thread idea. So far, I've been to: Australia, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Austria, Italy, Spain, Greece, Israel, The Netherlands, Latvia, Czech Republic, and the UK.

I would definitely recommend Thailand as many above did, its a lot of fun. I only went to Bangkok, Pattaya, and Koh Larn. Bangkok is a dump but Pattaya is a lot of fun, all day and night party basically.

Some of my favorite cities are: Rome, Italy (lived there 3 years, def recommend!), Barcelona, Spain (Just a great place), and Prague, Czech Republic (beautiful women and lots of fun, just don't go in August when everyone is on vacation), Singapore is great too!

Hopefully soon I can get to South America, especially Argentina and Brazil.

#23 White immensity of Antarctica
country : without
place : north pole

LOL. Antarctica is the world's southernmost continent. The North Pole is just a frozen body of water at the top of the world. Be clear about that before you travel there.
