Alright boys and girls, here it is. As per my discussion with Joel from Sylmark we decided to run a contest to see how good the WickedFire affiliates are for products that are pretty untapped for internet stuff. Being that Sylmark also represents a huge company and they only deal with "as seen on TV" stuff, it should be a pretty cool and somewhat easy contest.

A winner for this contest is an affiliate who generates the most increase in revenue from Feb 5th 2007 - EXTENDED TO MARCH 31ST 2007.

Sylmark.com's WF Contest Signup

Total prizes are $6,000!!!

1st place = $2500 added to your check
2nd place = $1500 added to your check
3rd place = $1000 added to your check
4th place - 13th place = $100 Gift Card to Buy.com, Amazon.com, NewEgg.com or Omaha Steakhouse!

This contest is going from Feb 5th 2007 - March 31st 2007!

Here is the payout scale of products and affiliate commission:

WalkFit.com
$10
MiracleBlade.com
$35
BuySmartWare.com
$22
IonicPro.com
$40
LightRelief.com
$25
ProsVent.com
$22
UltimateChopper.com
$30
IonicProTurbo.com
$60
AlphaCalm.com
$30
EmergencyPro.com
$5
TheCoreSculptor.com
$25
ThePurePro.com
$50
SoftLuxPillow.com
$22
Kimvo.com
$20

Depending on how many sales you bring in, I was also told that you can hit the payout increase for the contest too.
The only rules of the contest (aside for following Sylmark's TOS) is that you MUST be a WF member to be eligible!!

The reason this contest should do very well for both contestants and Sylmark is because made for TV products are mostly done by the ebook idiot crowd. They are not very good when it comes to PPC or SEO. Even mailers can bank on this!

If asked on the signup form who you found out about it through, just type in WF or WFContest. We've made it easier this time too, so by signing up through the contest tracking link below, you'll be considered a WF member. If by some chance you signup and you are not a WF member, you can keep whatever you make, but won't be allowed to get any of the prizes, so if you are reading this and aren't a member, signup before you join, otherwise you won't be counted, bitches!

I used Sylmark briefly in the summer and made about $6k-$8k with them total. I spent around, something like $500-$700 on PPC with MSN. I didn't even use Adwords because I was just interested in listing it, funding it, and letting it go. Joel told me to expect a few sales here and there. I was pretty fuckin shocked that it made THAT much from the amount of time and cash spent on it. Lord knows what some of you guys will be able to do with it too.

Alright, enough hype and stories, get your asses into gear and make some fuckin money!!

For any questions or concerns that may not be answered here, you can reach Joel directly here:

We've decided to go ahead and extend this contest until March 31st due to the late start and to give everyone a chance to optimize their campaigns and get a feel for the products that are working better than others for them.

Always wanted to do those "As Seen on TV" products. People seem to buy them like crack for God-Knows-Why.

Put it this way, when he was telling me about it, I was sitting there cracking up. But they spend MILLIONS a month on advertising it on TV and zero on the internet. The only people advertising it online are the guys with the big sites that kinda have everything lumped together. I heard some of those sites make millions a month, but then again, anyone who does something in an untapped market can bank hard as long as the competition is low. I personally don't like selling products, I'm more of a leads kinda guy, but for those who don't care, this may be more than just a contest, it may open up doors to something you never thought you'd get into, you never know I guess.

I don't make anything from this except for the listing fee of the contest, but it does rock to see people do well, like with the other revenue contests we had.

Just signed up but there was no area to fill in WF or WFcontest. Should we email [FONT=verdana,arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Joel Bess to confirm we are in the contest?

I counted 14 signups under the contest code so far, so I think we are okay. Joel will let me know the names so we can verify that they are all WF users.

Sylmark is a good company, we met up with them at the ASW. Ill be pushing their products hard soon.

Hmmm, watch out for this gotcha from their TOS:

"For each Product selected by you, you will display on Your Site ONLY the text, graphics, images, logos and other elements designated by us to be used in promoting the Products"

I haven't looked at what they provide yet, but doesn't that kinda stifle landing page creativity?

They also don't let you use their product names in PPC search terms, which makes it a bit more challenging to piggyback off their well-known TV brands.

And sorry to be the grinch, but I noticed each of the product pages has a big fat "Order Now Toll Free 1-800-xxx" prominently featured. Do we get paid for referred phone-in orders?

If you are using PPC and want to get around the TM terms, long tail is your best friend. For the WalkFit campaign I did, I just jacked every keyword that was listed on the site, and took out all of the TM/product keywords, and used everything else explaining the insoles, then dug out the keywords related to those and BAM, a keyword list to work with. You can do that with anything though, or should at least.

no trademarks for PPC... F this shit. You want a big adwords guy to promote this let me use trademarks

"We will pay you Advertising Fees (“Advertising Fees”) on the sale of Products to consumers if (a) the consumer follows a link from Your Site to the ordering page of Our Sites at the URL designated by us, (b) you correctly use Promotional Materials as designated by us,"

So, these companies setup affiliate programs presumably to increase sales and then they proceed to cripple the publisher by having bullshit about not bidding on trademarks, related terms and not allowing us to get creative with the product landing pages we promote.

And then, to top this shit off, the fucking have a clause in their that basically means they can say, oh, you moved some pixel on our creative, fuck off we aren't going to pay you for the sales.

Fuck them.

This type of bullshit really pisses me off.

IMO the banners they provide do not look good, this will be interesting.
