I guess Joel will have a lot of questions to answer when he gets back from wherever it is he went.

I see some opportunities and was thinking I might do this for fun in the evenings, but this program breaks many major rule of affiliate marketing.

  • The 800 number things stinks and is a major leak on conversion on several of the pages.
  • The landing page is not an order form, allow deep links.
  • Creative restrictions are vague as hell, anyone have an idea what I can or cannot do? Do I just copy and past the source code from their site into mine? Can I use there URL's and just land directly on their poorly converting sites?
  • Products available cheaper elsewhere.
  • The add-ons and cross-sells and S&H charges are outrageous and kill conversion, plus I dont get paid extra for any of that shit. If I was going to do this for real...that would be the first order of business. Either pay me for the leaks or get rid of the leaks.
  • Nothing like having 3 dozen people jump into a space all at the same time to jack up PPC pricing.
  • Them claiming they have never advertised online before does not exactly give me a warm fuzzy, also appears that the affiliate program may not be that solid. Can I trust my cookies?
  • I see some great white label opportunities, but heck that is not gonna happen, so I wont moan too much.
  • Products appear to be impulse purchases rather than something with high search volume, there might be a good reason it works well on TV and not on the internet.
  • How the heck do I track this to a keyword level?
Ah heck I cant think of any other reasons to discourage people from entering the contest.

I may dip my toe in, but it does appear that there is some opportunity, as well as some obstacles. Would have been nice if the guy did not post and bail for the day to address some legitimate concerns raised by people. I also hate contests that started 5 minutes ago and last for 3 weeks.

It takes me 3 weeks to optimize, find good landing pages, good URL's, good ad copy, keywords that work etc.

I might wait 3 weeks and come back to this...once the hit and runners have come and gone.

bah, i'm already getting discouraged. thank god I only invested in a 3 dollar domain so far. ;)

this is a load of crap!
i understand that a new aff program won't be perfect right out of the gate but damn at least get some of the basics down. They provide nothing for landing pages and all of their own landing pages they hide all the graphics in the css files so it makes it a major pain in the ass to snag them. I'd imagine future affiliates would at least want a picture or two of the products. I was hoping for a quick landing page insertions and be done with it, but it took me a good 10 mins just to do one.

Hmmm, watch out for this gotcha from their TOS:

"For each Product selected by you, you will display on Your Site ONLY the text, graphics, images, logos and other elements designated by us to be used in promoting the Products"

I haven't looked at what they provide yet, but doesn't that kinda stifle landing page creativity?

They also don't let you use their product names in PPC search terms, which makes it a bit more challenging to piggyback off their well-known TV brands.

Of course you can only use your own stuff just like very other real company. I cantell you this the landing pages are great I have done very well with them. Piggyback? you mean trademarks use generic terms you will do just fine they have good media and can only help you.

Very good point, although I don't think their affiliate program is too new. But I hear what you're saying on it.

When I promoted it, I just linked directly from the ppc campaign to my aff ID link, because my competitors were dumb and inexperienced. I also only did the WalkFit campaign, because they were advertising that one pretty heavily on TV and figured there would be a ton of searches for related products and lots of longtails for the whole "insole" type of product. I seriously killed everyone on it and muscled my way to the top. Maybe I'll dig up some of my old ads that I used and keyword lists to help you guys out since I have no use for it anymore. At that time though, I was allowed to use the product name in the keyword and ad, so that also helped lots, but they have since changed their rules. Even so, from the longtails, I was kinda shocked to see how many people there are searching for things like that, because I was under the impression it was for old people with back and foot problems, guess not.

There are also at least 4 other super affiliates on this forum who promoted for Sylmark recently and did very well, we'll see if they come out of hiding unless they are taking part in the contest, then I understand why they wouldn't post.

This is some funny shit! Sooo much whinning and complaining. The reall affiliates will step up and make a shitload with his product. I have shifted my focus of my business but I have to tell you all. I have made crazy money with Mr. Bess aside from the fact I would recommend working with a man of him caliber. The product moves the pages convert the 800 doesnt change a thing. All of you who need trademarks and are sitting and complaining instead of working it, are just to scared to step up and play this game. There is so much money here, I wish I had the opportunities you guys are getting now much earlier in my career. These guys pay on time no nonsense no games str8 up players.

So all of you lazy fools shutup and get moving. I have made a ton of money with them. I would recomend this program to anyone & I have at ASW I did my best to introduce as many real affiliates as I knew to Joel and co.

Hmm apparently my MSN adcenter account still has some love for me.. I went in there and saw some active accounts for other shit that were still running and converting, haha..

Back on to topic though.. here are some keywords I used for one ad campaign for the WalkFit site. These are product related and did pretty damn well for me. Here you go you babies.. Just to give you an idea of how many keywords are associated with these types of products.

Did anyone see, how much they are paying out for each sale, and if it goes up based on volume.

On the site it states "each new sale you refer to us, you will receive anywhere between $10.00 and $30.00".

I saw that too. I had strict instructions from Joel Bess who handles their entire affiliate program to post the payouts he sent to me, not to mention that based on volume sales payouts increase.

Again, it's really hard to sit here and tell you this or that without him here, so I'm going to make damn well sure he gets over here tomorrow to answer every question about his program.

Has anyone started this yet?

I got over 200 domains to choose from ready to go but, I ain't doing shit until I get somethings clear.

I feel like I'm on a date. I got this massive hard on and the chick has braces, is on the rag and got serious diarrhea. All entries blocked, :disgust: but I 'm ready to bust a nut in here. :love-smiley-086: Let's get this shit started.

Here is a good question to ask them...Why are they restricting affiliates from bidding on Brand Terms, when they themselves are not bidding on the brand terms they are restricting us from?

I looked up about half and only saw them bidding on a few terms - One in particular is worth mentioning Miracle Blade.

The messed up thing about Miracle Blade is that 3 different affiliates are bidding on the term and then landing on the same exact page - Google is obviously not aware of this at this moment in time....

If they are going to have rules about affiliate bidding, either enforce them or make it a wide open landscape for everyone.

I turned on about 4 campaigns tonite, but I must say that I am gonna be a hair trigger on turning them off...They may be legit as hell, but they dont pass my smell test.

Jon, you should refer Joel to your "How to revamp an Affiliate Marketing campaign" consulting team. :1bluewinky:

This contest sounds ghey. JMHO though cause some people take comments posted on a forum personally for some reason.

Jon, hate to be dick, but I'll be one anyway. You should have shared the pertinent information when you annouced the competition and probably vetted these guys out first.

Seems like they have some pretty fucking basic stuff wrong with their program and the icing on the cake is the revelation that you were infact allowed to bid on their TM terms when you got your great results.

Don't get me wrong, glad you eventually shared that, but hell... running a competition with these guys it seems that you could have caught this shit up front.
