Why work when I can get £42,000 in benefits a year AND drive a Mercedes?

why do many conservatives take everything to extremes? Its like Glen Beck mentality everywhere.

This situation is totally fucked, it doesn't mean there shouldn't be any welfare, but nobody should ever "be better off by not working"

Everything is done with the best intentions. Yes, welfare wasn't made for people to exploit it, but that's not the point. The argument from conservatives is that the system is prone to abuse by its mere existence. Human beings aren't always moral, and furthermore examples like this lead people to exploiting the system even more (if he's doing it, why don't I do it?).

This situation is strangely ironic to Atlas Shrugged, wherein the author describes people who don't bother to work (since there's no reason to due to taxation) and instead produce children instead of goods (since they are paid for by the community and not for them). The book was written in the 50s before any welfare programs were properly developed.

"The couple met in a pub 13 years ago. A year later, at the age of 17, Mrs Davey gave birth to Jessica, now 12"

lmao that explains a lot

We have friends in Germany who are constantly complaining about NOT getting money from the state because they are too fucking rich.
Damn, that's also tough. I'm constantly complaining about the taxes I have to pay because I earn too fucking much ;)

this is by far the most demotivational thing I've seen in a while.

'If the government wants to give me money, I'm happy to take it. We get what we're entitled to. I don't put in anything because I don't pay taxes, but if I could work I would.'

...she could work but doesn't, she could work and could not afford having so many kids, it's totally different...

And she adds: 'I've always wanted a big family - no one can tell me how many kids I can have whether I'm working or not.'

You're just fucking wrong here. Your income tells you how many kids you can have, or at least how many you can keep with you giving them all they need.

it's not even my country, but I feel so disgusted.

So liberals don't take everything to extremes? You mean like libs and the government media claiming EVERY tea party member is a racist??? or that they are violent militia members? It's like Racheal Maddow mentality everywhere!

Kind of off topic but a few weeks ago some women was on CTV (Canadian news station) slamming the government for not extending The Canadian Home Improvement Grant.

According to her it was, "a sad day that Canadians rights to a better home have been thrown away."

I had to laugh or cry - seriously. Is it really your right as a Canadian for your government to pay for your new air vents or windows? Actually it's pretty scary to think that anyone can have this mentality.

Also anyone in Canada watch Power Play With Tom Clark? Every night I decide to watch I'm shocked at the fucking idiots choosing what path this country goes down. Right and left. Fucking ridiculous.

I wonder what will happen when some oversight board catches wind of this media article and decides to grant that family a nice decrease in their earnings.

There should be mandates that they have to actively be looking for work if they are receiving benefits, and if they buy any large assets like a Mercedes that their state-funded money can't go towards it.
