Why do networks do this?

If an affiliate is killing it on an offer, they run and tell all the other affiliates.."Everyone, this offer is killing it, run this offer now!"
Do they realize they are screwing over the guy who made the offer "hot" in the first place?

Happened to me numerous times. I'll take an offer no one is running, beat whatever shit EPC it had before, then a few days later I see the AM's all tweeting about that shit..

Need a network that keeps their mouth shut.

Obvious answer: Because they will make more money if more affiliates push more volume?

So shut the hell up and fucking leave then. Anyone worth their salt isn't gonna bitch, they're going to scale.
Just because you see a shitload of tweets saying it's 'killing' it on POF or FB, doesn't mean there aren't 40 other sources out there that will get you the same results, and 99% of the newb idiots won't try those sources. They'll dump $300 in facebook, make $330, and move to another offer.

It's logic man. Just like amorph said, what's better 1 affiliate pushing 1k leads a day or 50 affiliates pushing 100 leads a day? And just like bb_wolfe said, basically most affiliates including myself don't even bother pushing those offers and the only ones that do are the initiative affiliates.

If they wanted just YOU to have it, they would leave it on private bud.
We deal with caps, budgets, guidelines, all sorts of shit on just getting the offer so when we have free reign to blow it up, that's what will happen. Not speaking for anyone else, just myself.

For every one affiliate that bitches about something like a "sacred" offer or a "traffic source", I've got another 1,000+ that will thank me for the tip. Again, not speaking for anyone else but you cant please everyone, and I dont even try. We just keep the alerts going because when we do, offers produce for everyone.

Edit: I may have read that wrong. I think you were referring to a "single" affiliate promoting an offer in which case you should have had a deal going with the network and then yea, it probably should have been kept on the downlow. Apologies if I misinterpreted.
 
yeah EWA needs to stop doing this.

Not only do they tell everyone about it, but they also start pushing it internally and it's just easier for them to push it since they know YOUR numbers and they have a higher payout than you...

Plus, when they tell other about it, lot of newb's push it and sometimes send crap traffic to it and get the payout lowered.
 
I've always wondered why people bitch about this but don't have the foresight to send crap traffic (in addition to your bread and butter) to the offer just to make the epc stay the same (better yet, drop so the offer looks like shit).

c'mon bud, surely you've got a few brain cells rattling around up there.

well the problem is that when you're doing high 4 figs, or 5 figs a day, they know that most likely its working for you. when you keep doing it for couple of days, its damn obvious...
