Who got you in IM?

Was 14. Googled "make money online." Ended up on DP. Made my first hundred with another kid I met on there. I actually paid for the method and it turned into a long-term partnership. Ended up in BHW. Now im here.

Of course I left out all campaign details lol

Your story is nearly identical to mine.

I was 14. It was Christmas and my uncle was talking about how people were banking off iphone apps. For some reason, I just wanted to make money. And I googled "how to make money online." Then I found some youtube videos on spiderweb marketing, some MLM shit. Then I found a more "legit" deal when a video talked about how to make money online from your blog.

So I worked on my blog for a month, it was an epic fail. Lol. I ended up on DP, then BHW, now I am here.

Here is the video that started it all...

DP [Made barely anything] --> BHW [Made some black hat monies] --> WF [Made bank with legit monies]

just me myself, Got started while looking for ways to make money. First started with Absense and lurking around DP. Let me be honest i started in 2006 when i was 28 yrs old. I wonder why the fuck i didnt know about all this when i was like 20ish

started myself actually back in 96 trying to develop a men's health magazine and then later got into the adult industry because it was like the only way I seen you could make real monies online back in 96. There wasnt many affiliate programs, etc...

About 2003 I started to get into mainstream.

lol..around 3 years back i was searching for free rapidshare accounts to download stuff. i landed on a yahoo Q where i saw an answer along the lines of this "signup to this site and make money just by viewing ads" then there was his affiliate link to some PTC site. I signed up and started on PTC then i observed what was being promoted on those PTC's and learned about clickbank and affiliates....thats how I begun.

on a side note, why does every thread in which this guy called mgrunin posts get tagged with "mgrunin is roishare"...whats the joke people?

I was initially interested in learning web development/design so I hung around various sites like webmasterworld.com and sitepoint.com (this was probably 2003-2004). I eventually stumbled onto some threads where people were discussing making money with their own sites. I completely changed direction after realizing that I could make far more on my own and not have to put up with clients.

in 2004 i saw a commercial for this at 3am. went to p.b. and dled the ebook. thought id have a lambo within 2 weeks after setting up my first rj affiliate blog. failed miserably. quit im till 2009. got back into it when i met some dude that claimed he made 6 figs in 6 months. the dream was reborn

Back when I was 3 I started this super rad website called tits for toddlers. It had all the big boobs, toddlers couldn't get enough (Damn I bet those things will hold a lot of milk!) Toddlers everywhere were signing on, it was crazy. Balled out of control and made a cool $14 million bucks off that site.

3 years ago on DP. Some guy pushing his ebook gave detailed instructions on how to promote with articles. That site/book still makes $100 or so a month.

Great stories you all had to make this journey through BS get rich quick schemes. I started selling baseball cards at shows in high school. Then got into the dot com boom of the late 90's and ended up working at 2 SEO agencies in the early days. Learned affiliate marketing along the way and have bin managing an affiliate program for almost 5 yrs now.

Got started after college as an AE at a large Online Media Company. Guess I was too busy chasing pussy and getting drunk in high school and college to have given a shit about AM...wouldn't change anything even if it meant being rich earlier in life. To each his own

I ran this gaming clan back when I was 18 years old, we traveled around and even won a handful of tournaments for Battlefield 1942. We were considered to be a top 10 team and all that jazz... it was fun while it lasted and I'm still good friends with several of the people I played with.

Anyhow, we had a website and a forum that was around for quite sometime and pretty active with news and regular visitors. A couple of years down the road we figured there was a way to make money on it, after a little bit of searching I came across Adsense. Then I knew there was a way of making money online and it all snowballed from there. For this reason, I still pretty much focus most of my time on websites surrounding products or content that I am actually interested in.

I ended up purchasing my first profitable business off of Sitepoint and that ended up being a good investment (luckily now that I look at some of the trash that ends up on site selling sites like flippa). That's what landed me on internet marketing forums.

playing poker

kept seeing those refer a friend messages, thought "hey, I bet I could go on forums and make friends with people, then get them to sign up under me"

guess how that turned out?

then I bought some affiliate book off amazon, it was about direct linking to aff offers, started getting £0.10 clicks on car finance offer, banked good for a while, offer got shut down.... I've been failing ever since

So for my third site I decided to make a search engine. I opened frontpage and made a nice header tag at the top saying "Eli's Search Engine". Below that I did an Insert >> Form field >> text box then put a button next to it. I labeled the button "Search" saved and uploaded it. After about two hours of making every imaginable tweak to the button's properties and settings in frontpage and frantically typing various stuff into the box and clicking the search button over and over wondering why nothing was happening I ended my dreams of starting a search engine.

That's funny shit, because I tried doing the exact same thing, the exact same way and couldn't figure out why I wasn't the next Yahoo. (this was before Google was the Google we know today.)

Back in 2005ish, I found out about Adsense and put it on a couple of the pages of the company website I had built for the place i worked at the time. My employer had no idea about any thing web related, so I didn't even ask if it was ok to put ads up on the site. It started making a couple bucks a day, so I incorporated Adsense into the whole site. When it began making $10-$15 a day, I realized what I could do, and then started busting ass with MFA pages & sites. The rest is history, and this month will be my highest earning Adsense month since I started. Sky's the limit.
