Which Country Would Be The Most Insulated From A U.S. Default Or Dollar Crash?

I would say go to a country with good weather buy a lot of land and learn to grow your own crops. learn to totally be self reliant to get basics like food and water and guns

It's funny how you don't see any documentaries on Allende's rule. Do you think living under socialism is a freakin' tea party? Allende was killing people, too. I dare say MORE people. Hyperfinflation, starvation, street violence, etc reigned under Allende. People who attack Pinochet are the same ones that love that murderous Che Guevara and think Cuba is a great place. Here's a comment on an anti-Pinochet video I found on Youtube:

FELICES RECUERDOS DEL TERMINO DEL PEOR GOBIERNO DE NUESTRA HISTORIA DEL SIGLO XX LLENO DE ACTIVISTAS EXTRANJEROS , MIEDO Y FALTA DE TODO, ALTA INFLACIÓN, VIOLENCIA CALLEJERA TODOS LOS DIAS EN LA CALLE , GRUPOS PARAMILITARES ASUSTANDO Y GOLPEANDO A LA POBLACION Y LOS OPOSITORES A ALLENDE , DESABASTECIMIENTO Y HAMBRE, Y MILES DE FANÁTICOS LLENOS DE ODIO Y RESENTIMIENTO TRATANDO DE IMPONER A LA MAYORÍA UN GOBIERNO POPULISTA SECTARIO Y PRO-MARXISTA LA MAL LLAMADA VÍA CHILENA AL SOCIALISMO

Google translate:

HAPPY MEMORIES OF THE TERM OF THE WORST GOVERNMENT OF OUR FULL twentieth century history of foreign activists, fear and lack of everything, high inflation, street violence DAILY IN THE STREET, paramilitary groups scaring and beating people and opponents of ALLENDE, shortages and starvation, and thousands of fans filled with hatred and resentment trying to impose a populist government MOST PRO-sectarian Marxist misnamed Chilean road to socialism

If such a thing were to happen, I'd rather be in place poised to take advantage of such a situation, rather than think in a primarily reactive way. Shit hits the fan = someone is going to come out on top.

So in that case, I'd like to be in Japan, Germany or Norther Europe.

Society is mostly about mind sets. Countries with a smart, strong work ethic and a middle class mentality (i.e. save for the future, invest in education, etc) will do better than countries which on the surface might be less dependent based on stats, but whose population has a lower class mentality (ie. live this minute without regard to the future) and a lower level of work ethic.

New Zealand... in general people are very peaceful...

Cuba. No trade whatsoever with any country,

USA might be the only country where you can't legally buy a Cuban cigar.

"In 2005 Cuba had exports of $2.4 billion, ranking 114 of 226 world countries, and imports of $6.9 billion, ranking 87 of 226 countries.[148] Its major export partners are China 27.5%, Canada 26.9%, Netherlands 11.1%, Spain 4.7%"

Belize is the place to run to... warm, speak English(kinda), deal in dollars, and no income tax. Just learn how to fish and bring your sailboat so gas is not an issue, shit live on your boat.

Australia will be because it is so far up china's ass it isn't funny... New Zealand will be as well because no one cares about New Zealand.... lol j/k honestly I think a lot of countries will be affected but they will all recover and diversify accordingly...

If they deal in dollars in Belize, it's not such a great place to go to escape from the dollar.

Cuba and Venezuela would both be screwed actually, even though we consider them anti-US.

Cubans rely very heavily on funds patriated from family members living in the US, often from family working in the types of jobs that would be most heavily affected by a U.S crash.

Venezuela may hate us, but they would be even worse off. They are completely dependent on petro-dollars, any time the value of a barrel of oil hits a blip, hungry people are marching in the streets, a US crash would crush the only playing-card a Marxist state has to keep even slightly afloat. No healthy commerce developed there to help them regroup if TSHTF, they are completely dependent on US appetite for oil keeping the value up.

Chile would have a shot, but could be dragged down by the other South American countries that rely on trade with the U.S, its still a problem of geography for most trading partners located close to the U.S that rely on physical goods and commodities for their GDP. Refugees from other SA countries that got hammered would be a problem for whichever SA country survived the best.

France has serious structural problems in its current situation, but they wouldn't get "worse" by a U.S. crash, so they may be better off then other European countries like UK or Germany, which would follow suit if the U.S economy went down in flames.

Most third-world-esque island countries, that currently have low GDP and standard of living, would probably be fairly isolated from a US crash if they don't rely on tourism and are self-sustaining for their own food supply.
