What instant messenger do you use

AIM is fine as most people use it, and you need to be available for your clients.

My only gripe with AIM is that it needs to be on its own PC. Or on a little used PC. As popup windows always get in the way. Ever be in email and you're typing something and the AIM window pops up and you've written 3-4 words into AIM? Ever hit ENTER not even realizing it, and you're sending a client "I'll be home for dinner at 5, love you"?

lol

Not saying I did that, just asking.

I mostly use AIM but always have Skype running as well. I'd say 95 percent of people in this industry use one or the other. I used to leave MSN and Yahoo Messenger open, but now I figure that they can use the instant messaging services that everyone else uses if they really need to contact me.

Skype first and foremost. By far the best messaging/voip client. There are usually a few conference chat dialogues going between different groups of people and Bofu's often rambling on about something on the mic.

I also have MSN always running and will turn on AIM/ICQ if I really need to talk to an AM or someone in adult.

Wow ... AIM is shit. AOL can't even keep the service up enough for me to register ... then when one hour or more later it works, I go to do my screen name ... and the site's screwed again.

I'm actually getting angry and all for an Instant Messenger. I don't wanna use my email address for the AIM name ... I wanna use a screen name like everyone else. Apparently it's not going to let me.

great.
:/

Wow something from AOL that sucks, big surprise.

Can someone please explain to me why so many peeps in this industry use AIM?

I fuckin hate AOL, they have been crap since they first started. I've always considered them the ISP for idiots and noob's. The only good thing about AOL in my opinion, is the guaranteed idiots/users to buy my shit.

Why would so many people that should know better, use anything related to AOL?

As best as I can tell, much like ICQ and the porn biz, tradition and resistance to change.

Have used AIM for the past 12+ years, probably one of the most reliable pieces of software I've ever used. I use AIM 5.9 (which is quite old) because it's fast and I can adhack it.
