Just as an update, I do plan on taking a stab at this sometime in the next meh...I've learned a shit ton about Angular rebuilding serpIQ (very ahead of schedule on the front end rebuild right now because of it) and I'll gladly contribute a feed reader concept for Kiopa_Matt to rethink his entire design and development mentalities with.
Sounds good, and I'm all ears! You're going to have a rough time convincing me to change methodologies though.
Or if wanted, we could do another devel competition? I'm in an even better position now than I previously was. We could do a dating site, or a mock stock trading system, or whatever, you choose. Want to?
Neither of those ideas I have any real experience/understanding of so I would need pretty thorough specs for them, but I'm very much open to random ideas just to test skills.
I have a relatively simple social app idea for something I've wanted for a long time that I might hack together just so I can actually have it that I might open source too.
All of this is when I have time of course, which probably won't be for another month at least.
Sounds good, and that works too! I don't care, as long as it's an actual online operation. No bots you run via SSH prompt, no WP plugins, no Facebook apps, etc. Actual online operations only, and other than that, I don't care what it is.

Well if I had the time and resources to actually build out this idea correctly, it would consist of a backend API that talks to both a front end web app and mobile apps (the social part is collecting pics/videos/quotes/etc from people).
I have no experience with mobile apps though admittedly this would probably a simple way to learn. I guess I could use something like phonegap but I don't really want to go down yet another learning path at this point, so I'll probably build the web app + API and then just use the web version for a while to test viability before really investing in mobile dev.
I might plan this out in a few weeks and document my thought process for it and share here, not sure.
But yeah, I'll check in back here in a few weeks and we can figure out a plan for another mini-competition.
I'll build the Android app if nobody else wants to. Maybe the iOS app as well but I'm a lot slower on iOS, I've only done a few apps.
But forget the competition part of it, are we not all busy enough as it is? There's a lot of talent on WF, we should build some social app together and see what happens.
But that's no fun. dchuk is a far higher caliber developer than me. I know this, because he won't shut up about it, so I'd love to see him prove it.
I like the idea of a dating app, although it would take longer than 24 hours to have a nice working version.
