There's a government program that's been in testing for a couple years in Britain that gives heroin to heroin addicts. They started the testing with heroin, but plan to move it to other drugs.
The idea behind it was that it's cheaper and safer for the government to supply the addicts pure heroin than it is for them to get it on their own where they'd end up stealing, beating, or killing people for money to buy their fix, and at the same time getting impure drugs in the process. Not only that, but it keeps them and others out of the emergency room if the process is controlled.
Last I heard, it was pretty successful. Of course, to be on that program you must eventually work yourself off the addiction, but it seemed to be saving the country money and crime rates dropped at the time I read the news article.
I'm not saying I approve of paying for people's fuck ups or that people won't abuse the system, but in that one instance it did prove to be benefiting the country as a whole.
Killing teen parents and their unborn child for giving in to a natural desire, seems a tad extreme bro lol.
Not saying I want to be the one to do it, Bro, but the alternative we are living with right now, causes a fuckload lot more damage to many, many more people.
I guess im too hardcore now. Ive seen so many helpful programs get abused and go unmoderated. If we could do a successful gov program that doesnt get abused and is heavily moderated, then I would support it.

Why is this? Why can't it just be over the counter or administered by the pharmacist behind the counter (for the "more serious" drugs)? And yes maybe it's because there are some risks that need to be evaluated for bc pills but, hell, there are some risks that need to be evaluated with flu shots and you can go down and get one from the pharmacist for 10 bucks a pop, no doctor needed.
Because the issue isn't birth control.
It's about religious views affecting our laws.
It's about parents thinking that if they stick their head in the sand their kid won't get preggers.
It's about a moral choice (abortion) being a part of politics when it really doesn't matter who you elect the law isn't going to change.
