From BBC News - US Utah 'biological' army base 'locked down'

A US military base that carries out tests to protect troops against biological attacks was locked down on Wednesday to resolve a "serious concern", officials have said.
The base in Dugway, Utah, reopened early Thursday to allow staff in and out. There were reported to be 1,200 to 1,400 people inside Dugway at the time.
Base commander Col William King said on Wednesday no-one was in danger.
No information was given on the nature of the problem.
The primary mission for the base, which is located about 85 miles (135km) south-west of Salt Lake City, is defending troops against biological and chemical attacks.
"Measures like these are not taken lightly. No-one is in immediate danger, but these steps are required," Col King said.

Haven't seen it on the news yet, which would be interesting if I didn't already know our news here is for entertainment purposes only.

Funny that the BBC got it before US press, eh?

FYI, Dugway proving grounds has one of the largest stockpiles of Anthrax, Nerve Gasses, Sarin, Etc. in the world.

From BBC

"An estimated 1,200 to 1,400 people were locked inside the Dugway Proving Ground for several hours after a quarter of a teaspoon of VX nerve agent was reported missing.

Officials said no-one was hurt and no damage reported.

Base officials said the nerve agent had been found early on Thursday.

Officials planned a news conference on Thursday afternoon."

I think this was handled perfectly. There's no need to freak a bunch of people out and do PR damage to the base over nothing.

Plus they are doing a news conference after the fact - so it's not like they were trying to cover it up.

The fact we have abandoned or marginalized a great soldier like Frank Hummel is equally tragic.

Damnit, my first reaction was to post up some zombies. Second was to bring up the rock. I'm just too slow.
