I have nothing new to add to this, so you can really just skip this post if you like.

This thread is kinda like a car wreck, you know what happened, your really don't want to see blood and carnage, but you just can't look away!

Also, I just read in Jons post that he has custom scripting in the package. I wish he said that before because when you install it it just looks like wordpress with 3 or 4 plugins. ... What exactly is custom to it Jon?

You rubbernecker!

There's nothing wrong with using full feed RSS if you have the permission of the RSS owner to do it. One of the affiliate programs I manage actually offers free RSS feeds, updated daily for our affiliates.

I agree. However, most people don't give permission, and most scraper site owners don't ask.

I have done some thinking about this and I have decided that there is no point in having Jon's team set up a niche site for me. I am quite capable of installing WP and plugins myself so why bother? It would seem that the unhappy contest winners just aren't going to get satisfaction.

hell no, still copyright infringement.

Dude, you're an idiot. It's not copyright infringement. Just admit that you read the damn thing wrong, and be on your way.

Just a note, you kept bitching about "original" and "unique" content, saying I promised this and that, when clearly I never said it, and you over-embelished the shit out of your original post.

What really pisses me off about this whole ordeal, is that I was the only one that apologized even though I made things pretty damn clear in the original contest post. Why am I to blame when someone reads something incorrectly?

Here's a note for you guys who are still pissed off or unhappy, don't participate in another contest here again. Since the original post from Peach I have been getting POUNDED like a 2 dollar hooker in IM's, emails, and PM's saying "Give me the script, they are all whiners" and things very similar to that. I swear, I wish I would have just went the non-lazy route with the NDA, and made the sites for you, I guarantee, that the only unhappy person would have been JDA who is at least passionate about being anti-RSS feed content. But he's the only one who I believe is really not for it, everyone else is just being a copycat and trying to find something new to pick a fight about.

JDA - PM me or IM me and I'll give you some consulting on a project of yours to make up for the contest prize.

Everyone else, the offer still stands. You have 3 options.
1- Let my team make your site.
2- Use the script and do it yourself.
3- Shut up and stop already, because there is nothing more to complain about.

This is a little offtopic, but why are you so sure that the sites made using the mentioned script don't have potential ? I'm asking because the debate has now shifted from "it's not a site" to "it'd be a shitty site"...

Once again, I have no experience with scraper sites, but if it works, I won't be calling it a scraper site, I'll be calling it a profitable venture.

Yes please, I'd like that, although I'd still prefer a brief user manual which explains how to make those sites work and which pitfalls to avoid.

By his team making you the site they are just going to setup the script etc, why dont you just set it up yourself? Just put up the sites setup the rss and send a few links there way with coop and leave them.

I am not saying that they don't have potential. The issue is that we were told that there would be niche content and there wasn't. Plus, we did all of that work and spent all of that time to receive what amounted to nothing more than a freebie script with some freebie plugins.

As I said earlier, however, we are never going to get satisfaction, so there is really no point in discussing it further.

What is the difference between a "SPLOG"/RSS feed site and a search engine?

Both scan other people's unique and relevant content to display small portions of it on their own sites. Both use other people's unique content to have a constantly updated site with new relevant information at all times with little work. Both make money from ads on their site that just displays other peoples content. Both give links to the original creator of that content. Shit.... come to think of it... a search engine is like a big "splog"/RSS feed site with a search field.

Is it really that bad of a script? Don't bash it 'till you try it. *me wonders what bells and whistles are missing from this tuned down version from what is in his regular version*

And Q for jon: In your massive project are you doing your 2 million niches on ONE domain (one massive site) or are you using a catrillion domain names?). If it is one domain name... well then woulnd't that be fairly similiar to a search engine, but without the search? (hope that doesn't sound contradictory, haha)

Your brain crawled out of ur ass and got flushed down the retard toilet.

A splog is used to get a ton of keyword-rich pages in search engines really quickly. Search engines aim to provide links to sites related to a search key word or phrase. They do not take users content, they display a small portion of it to give the user an idea of what to expect. People actually want their url in search engines as it leads to visitors, splogs just lead to duplicate content penalties, and the original creators being pissed.

Oh, so no one ever wanted small portions of their content distributed around the web to get more links back to thier site with the full and unique article? I've been to plenty of places that show small portions of a unique article and then give the link back to the creator. I'm not talking about the splogs that don't give ANY link at all back to the creator or steal the ENTIRE article. I was talking about the RSS sites that show a sentence, no more than teh search engines. Heck I've seen some that use the RSS field to just show teh title only, and then give a link back to the creator. And some of the sites that do this RSS stuff are quite useful especially when it comes to distributing what is known as a Press Release.

I wasn't talking about the splogs that steal an entire article and give absolutely no link back to the site. If they take one sentence or less there is NO DUP penalty.

I'm all against anyone stealing an entire article and giving no link back... and yes, lots of splogs do that...but not all. ...ANYWAYS, I gotta go stick my head back in my ass to protect myself from other assholes.

Exactly, they're both tools the middle man in getting the visitor to where they want to be, that's why they're not interesting for google to link to and that's why they drop them asap

Are you Fing kidding me? :P Putting them in coop..:ugone2far:
The whole art of splogging is not getting your sites banned within 10 days, coop will get them banned before they are even indexed.

Do you have proof that sites that are made by my feedscript get dropped? Because I've never heard of them being dropped.. ever. I think most webmasters who don't know what they are talking about say one thing, and then everyone goes by whatever stupid thing that was said and suddenly it becomes the law of the land. It's total bs.
