Transferring WP Site to New Host- EXTREMELY DIFFICULT

Nice!

Personally, I'd use a plugin for the grunt work. This one works great.

Then Search and Replace to set the new domain and you should be golden. I think. I would tend to set the two main ones (site_url and home, I think) in wp-options through phpMyAdmin first, then do Search and Replace to clean up all the image paths and whatnot.

From now on, I'm making it my duty to post something disgusting whenever someone posts something that should be in the newbie section. I ask that others do the same.

Not that disgusting, but it does include a kitten.

Alright, I'll admit I was a clueless newb when I made this thread. But now I have some more important things to consider when transferring sites.

I'm transferring sites on my SEO blog network all to seperate hosting companies.

I would like to install wordpress manually on the new hosting account and then import my files/database. What is the trick to doing it this way?

(The reason I need to do this: some of my old sites were installed with wp on the http:// directory when I need them to be on http://www)

Any tips much appreciated

It will be much easier when you discover http:// is not a directory.
