Torrent reinvented

Don't understand what to do with the Github files.
[/url]

Those github files are the critical part of keeping this project alive. Those github files are the reason you found a seperate download location. Those GitHub files are all you need to get popcorn time running. Those github files are the beauty of open source. It doesn't matter if the .gov takes down the original source. Popcorn time can now live on forever. You can install, modify, improve , distribute with those files. And once it's out in the wild, hosted on servers all over the world nobody can stop it.

Just created one, and backed it up with 170 mbps upload in the EU and 80 in North America. Download links for Install_Popcorn_Time_Beta_2.5.exe.torrent - Mirrorcreator - Upload files to multiple hosts

Originally downloaded direct from the creator's website.
And for you macfags, downloaded from a mirror and turned into a torrent:

Download links for Popcorn_Time_2.5_for_Mac.torrent - Mirrorcreator - Upload files to multiple hosts

(sorry, I know using a zip is bad practice, but that's how it came, and utorrent wasn't letting me use a directory)

Why in the hell don't they just change the dependency domain to a .bit? Derpa Derpa?

Here's hoping that's in the next version.

Letting total noobs know they should be using a vpn would be sweet as well.

Visit movie4k.to and there you will have movies rated with smilies. The bigger the smile the better the quality. I use them for movies and shush.se for series. Shush is great because there you can also set the resolution :)

Is there anyway to filter the CAM vids from HD videos on Putlocker? Seems like they're all shitty quality...

Because 0% (rounded) of the potential audience uses namecoin.

So, the links on Kim's Mega download service are not immune to being nuked as well?? (downloaded the popcorn from there)

Hm, whats the point of Kim's bragging on Mega's privacy untouchables then?

Go figure.

The point is that Mega do not know what files they are hosting. They can claim this when served with any copyright violation notices. They still have to take files down they are made aware of.

Who could give a takedown notice on this type of software and so quick? And why would Mega take it down? There is not copyright content in the file.

Something smells fishy

I agree, I don't know how their take-down system works, though.

fwiw, they have a new download link.

I prefer Home - YTS

Not streaming but being able to choose quality of the movies (720p, 1080p, etc), the GUI and the ability to download them to a USB thumb drive is perfect.

Um, the chrome extension that allows you to view .bit domains is 60 kilobytes.

If the popcorn installer is already 25 Megs, I'd think that 60kb wouldn't be that large of an addition in order for them to have access to .bit, and then users won't even have to know that they're doing so.

Without a local copy of the namecoin blockchain, it's still relying on someone else's centralized service.

Even if they block this it can easily come back as something else. It's open source and the idea behind it is too simple, it just pulls a torrent file and streams it afaik. For this to die, torrents would also need to disappear. Also if you're in the UK it wont connect without a vpn (just install cyberghostvpn and you're good to go).

I also like how TIME not only linked to the site but explained how to get around the filter too. lol

That's the beauty of Namecoin; No one but existing bitcoin miners ever need mine it. (Or keep a copy of it's blockchain)

It's merge-mined with BTC so the rest of the world can just use the .bit DNS service as a freebie and it's more than protected from takedowns and centralization.

This is awesome! Good selection of movies to. I can't wait for it to come out of beta.

Does anyone know of a way on windows 8.1 to play these through your xbox wirelessly? The Play To won't work because it's a desktop app.
