Thinking of Getting a new machine, what do you think of this little monster?

Come on Rage? You seem to know about custom rigs, but anyone in this hobby should know that Intel has been raping AMD in the mid to high end cpu market for the last 3 years, and that's not debatable. I agree with i7 being better and macs being retarded, but People are buying the intels cause there better not popular. This is a fact you can find in almost all magazines/websites that actually know their shit. You actually saying any mid to highend stock or overclocked Amd cpu beats Intel for the same price? I can whip out shit tons of articles on show you otherwise

That wasn't the debate. The debate was on price point for what you get. I'm well aware of how much extra performance you'd get from the i5 and i7 Intels (I researched the shit out out of them vs the 1090T before I bought it). However the extra performance vs price swings into AMDs favor. And like I said, nothing wrong with going balls to the walls if that where your prerogative, I just think it's wasted money for marginal increases. The i7s are also 4 cores vs the 1090T's 6 cores, and if you where to compare the higher end Intel 6 cores there is no comparison in price vs performance, as the Intel 6 core processors (as of 2 months ago) where up around the $1000 mark. The 1090T is just a rock solid chip, that also has a unlocked multiplier (which makes it over-clocker friendly), at an unbeatable price. In fact it's my first AMD EVER.

I know to some people money isn't an issue, but I hate spending more on my rig than I have to because like anything else wasted money is wasted money. Take that extra money and put it into another part of your rig that warrants it IMHO. Put it into another screen, put it into a better video card, put it into more ram, put it into a better mobo (huge).

This isn't football Rage, arguing for the sake of arguing isn't going to help no one, the fact of the matter, OP, intel better at this point, i used to buy AMD only, but intel has become the standard for quality in the mid to high end processors, and with your budget, definitely opt for the intel if you build your own rig, you'll be happy you did. You can always wait for an SSD to go down in price, but you've waited all this time, and not having a PC that can perform, and the PCs at this point, if you take my recommendation will last you a shit long time. GL

Arguing is what I do. If no one argued their point this place would be a pretty fucking boring place.

Screw the water cooling and get a mid-ranged graphic card. Change the Win7 Home to Ultimate and buy a SSD and you still got a powerful SEO machine :small-smiley-026:

What's up with the arguments over amd/intel.

Intel = faster performance.

AMD = Better Price for slightly slower performance.

I've had AMD chips for years and never had a problem. Last chipset I built with was an intel. It fried faster than a bucket of chicken at KFC. I suppose that could mean I'm a little biased at the moment, but it doesn't seem to make sense to go intel if you are on a budget.
