This is why you're kind of an idiot. No real offence intended. Intel overcharges hard for their processors. For what you really spend on an Intel you can not beat the overall value of an AMD. Sure you could spend another $100 on an Intel I7, and they they do preform better overall (at least hypothetically) but then again they are much more expensive than the AMD line.
Again I have the processor listed, I have it overclocked as far as I can seem to take it, and no you probably won't notice that much of a difference between that and the Intel I7 line. Again why I say liquid cooling is a waste on this system, probably. Even if it wasn't you probably couldn't get over 4.5 GHz on that processor.
It's fine to be an Intel fanboi, I was for a long time also, but AMD is the better deal for the money hands down. If you have the money to go for the top of the line Intel I'd tell you to do it, but most people will not notice much of a difference even with hard core use.
And those plugging Macs are just straight fucking retarded. Take a day to learn to build a computer and you won't have to worry about it, K thnks bye!
Those pushing for SSDs, well they are pretty sweet but they haven't quite hit the sweet spot price wise. Again, if you have the dough to go plow over a $1 a Gig for such a drive, go for it. Give it a year or two and the price will come way down. To me they really aren't worth the value hardware wise. So photoshop takes 10 seconds to load vs 4 seconds, is that going to break the bank? Once it's loaded into ram that's going to be the main overall factor of speed anyways.
Again, I'm giving practicable advise. There is no issue with going balls to the wall. However there is a point of "diminishing returns" on your hardware. The rig he has selected will do him well for a year or two for sure at a reasonable price.
There is such a thing as practicable spending on a practicable system, and then there is over spending on a really non practicable system that will deliver marginal increases in speed for drastically more money.
Come on Rage? You seem to know about custom rigs, but anyone in this hobby should know that Intel has been raping AMD in the mid to high end cpu market for the last 3 years, and that's not debatable. I agree with i7 being better and macs being retarded, but People are buying the intels cause there better not popular. This is a fact you can find in almost all magazines/websites that actually know their shit. You actually saying any mid to highend stock or overclocked Amd cpu beats Intel for the same price? I can whip out shit tons of articles on show you otherwise
Ok Ok, I see what your saying Rage, but your talking about $500-$900 build computers were AMD see's the value, OP has a budget upto $1,500 and you should know that's right around the area were hes going to get the build he actually wants and should atleast be getting a 2600k+ or i5 2500k at least. (go 2600k
I haven't even checked out the new line, but i can guarantee you the i5-2500k rapes the shit out of your processor at clock and overclocked speeds! and i'll bet the farm on it too. anything under $200, hey maybe Amd has it, but i'm nor is the OP building $600 pcs anytime soon.
SSD is not that over hyped, yeah their still expenisve, but just decide what's more important to you OP, spending less on graphic cards or more on SSD, i would say SSD, but dont skimp to much the graphic cards either. There are things you can skimp on, and sometimes the cpu is one when you overclock. but get a solid cpu/motherboard for something you do 8-10 hours a day.
This isn't football Rage, arguing for the sake of arguing isn't going to help no one, the fact of the matter, OP, intel better at this point, i used to buy AMD only, but intel has become the standard for quality in the mid to high end processors, and with your budget, definitely opt for the intel if you build your own rig, you'll be happy you did. You can always wait for an SSD to go down in price, but you've waited all this time, and not having a PC that can perform, and the PCs at this point, if you take my recommendation will last you a shit long time.
