On a serious note, the conditions apparently are appalling. Putin must be angry as fuck right now. I wonder if it's really that bad of it's a conspiracy from the west to trash mother Russia.

Also, it's kind of funny that Mongolia is the #2 most supported team in social media. Shows how much people give a fuck about the winter olympics.

From the sounds of it, holding the Olympics in downtown Tijuana may have been a better choice. No offense to the Russian WF contingent, but all reports make it appear as if the games are being held in a 3rd world country.

Sums it up perfectly. The amount of bad press surrounding the whole thing has been unreal (but for all intents and purposes, justified). It's a half-assed charade, courtesy of mother Russia.

PS - I may catch a few hockey games.
 
ITT: I am not interested in the Winter Olympics therefore they are stupid.

Looking forward to the hockey, maybe the snowboarding too.

It's clearly the west trying to make them look bad. At least that's what Dmitry Kozak thinks.

Dmitry Kozak, the deputy prime minister responsible for the Olympic preparations, reflected the view held among many Russian officials that some Western visitors are deliberately trying to sabotage Sochi's big debut out of bias against Russia. "We have surveillance video from the hotels that shows people turn on the shower, direct the nozzle at the wall and then leave the room for the whole day," he said. An aide then pulled a reporter away before Mr. Kozak could be questioned further on surveillance in hotel rooms.

I wonder if he'll be seen again.
 
The only things worth watching are hockey and curling.

The last Olympic gold medal hockey game was the best I've ever watched in my life, despite Sidney Fucking Crosby scoring the OT winner.
