The Cost of Doing Business - Vote Democrat?

What? That's the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard. Don't be an idiot.

Conservatives are as whitebread as they come. They want nothing to do with Cinco de Mayo, foreign languages, foreign food, foreign customs, culture, clothing, whatever.

Unless they are evangelicals or religious people.

You're an idiot too. Sorry guys. All idiots, all around.

His point was that you're eventually going to have to help people even if they don't deserve it to keep you're ass out of the fire.

I mean think about it ... would you want popeye running the country? Fuck no!

Would i want some liberal douche who is just as radical on the left running the country? Fuck no!

So you basically got to keep everyone happy meaning that every now and then you're going to have to pay some taxes for programs and people that don't deserve it because if you have a bunch of desperate, unemployed, starving, exploited people you're eventually going to have problems.

.... foreign food, foreign customs, culture, clothing, whatever.

Are you shitting me?

We fucking love foreign food. We take that shit and Americanize the fuck out of it.

Taco Bell anyone?
Pizza Anyone?
Hot Dogs?
Hamburgers?

America has no native food ... we just have variations and combinations of European cuisine.

I'm from the USA and I'd like our Country to have one primary language which is English. I could care less about Cinco de Mayo and all the other festivals foreigners bring to this country.

People who migrate to America should be the ones who learn the history of this country and learn the English language. The United States is a melting pot and accepts all cultures who decide to legally come and go through legal channels to citizenship.

There's no way the U.S should have to cater to anybody else besides to the people (citizens) and the constitution.

You're just proving my point.

In the mind of conservatives, America and immigrants are two separate groups, and immigrants need to become more like Americans by adopting American trappings.

But when the English, Irish, French, Dutch came over hundreds of years ago, we didn't expect them to adapt to original American values.

They wore pants, spoke European languages, believed in Christianity, etc.

They imposed their values, which we are all benefiting from today. So why deny foreign culture? How are they any different?

As long as you immigrated to this country legally there's no difference in my eyes and millions of other conservatives (Americans). What pisses me off is when government officials start bending laws to cater to A) people who are here illegally and B) Un-Americanizing our country.

And what pisses me off even more is when some people come here thinking this is fucking Mexico or something. I remember watching a segment where a school was having some fucking Mexican celebration and two kids wore American flag shirts and they got offended. WTF? This country has never denied foreign culture, it's everywhere.

Legality doesn't address cultural influence. You don't see legal Mexicans dumping their salsa music and turning to Kenny Chesney.

You're mixing two different issues here.

We also had the Chinese build our railroads, Your point is not very valid at all. Why is it wrong to have a sense of American culture, you know the small things like liberty, property rights, freedom of speech. This is what binds us, not having a calendar with 100 different holidays on it.
Why is is wrong to want those that those who come to this coutry for a better life embrace our culture? Nobody is denied their culture in the US, but having a true melting pot is better than having hundreds of cultures that sequester themselves into separate groups.

Both the left and the right agree on those core values- liberty, freedom of speech, etc.

I'm talking about culture, not values. Hotdogs, 4th of july, baseball, American pie, English-only. Conservatives are hung up on it way more than liberals.

Values have to be the core of a culture , without them there is no culture. What is wrong with having a cultural identity?

The liberals from what I have seen are a lot more worried about "stepping on someone's toes". You would never see a conservative leader take it up the ass like Obama has when he goes and bows to these foreign leaders. The problem with this thought process is when we are so concerned about stepping on someone else's toes, people are going to start realizing this and at a point take advantage of us. I know you will come back and say that is taking it too far blah blah. You're right, maybe it won't happen next year or the year after, or even in 20 years, but AT SOME POINT if we keep doing this America will be just that, a melting pot. Good or bad? Idk, depends where you fall on the spectrum, but I would at least like to keep some sort of cultural identify (4th of July, FUCK celebrating Mexico's independence day in our schools, and no it doesn't mean I am racist I just don't want to celebrate that shit. Do they celebrate the 4th of July down there? Fuck no.) Basically liberals you need to grow a pair when it comes to some of this stuff.

Maybe I was not clear, the melting pot is what the US is going away from in favor of celebrating "cultural diversity" Like the nutjob groups like La Raza telling school kids that New Mexico, Texas and other border states need to be re populated with hispanics.
This weakens the society as a whole.
When I commented on values and culture I meant a American culture, not the culture those bring with them.

People need to stop comparing immigration then to immigration now.

Women and blacks also didn't vote when a lot of people immigrated to the USA. Do you suggest that because that is the way it was back then that we keep behaving like nothing has changed?

European immigrants in the 19th and 20th century != Mexican, South American, and Central American immigrants from the last 15 years.
