Wow Jon, it's 1am here on the west coast, and I know you're out on the east. So are you awake insanely late or insanely early?

I tried to buy one of these but my local dealer (one of the biggest in the UK) could not supply one for a minimum of 15 months. There are a few RHD kicking around as resales but any one I contacted had silly premiums attached.
I hope to get a deal on one by the summer as the dealer is sick of me playing test pilot

$110k for a flashy car that does 0-60 in 4.6? No thanks, I'll take the new ///M3 and not have the drooling teenage boys hanging on my nutsack.

the M3's are insane. Check out the motor trend review of the 2008 to see why you need one. Hopefully I'll manage to get one in a year or two..

The M3 is a nice car but looks a little to much like a standard 3 when it costs 100k here in the UK. I always used to drive BMW but switched to Audi when I got my TT and find it a better car all round.
I don't think there is anything to flash about an R8 when you put it next to something like a Gallardo on which it shares a lot of components. In the UK Audi is a quality brand but not seen as super pretentious like other companies.

My old college roomate has an m3, it's a sweet ride but impractical about 6 months out of the year here in Minneapolis.

)Out of my league, but I'd personally go for the R8 over an M3 or 5 or any merc.
The Audi R8 just won the car of the year by Robb Report. I was surprised that it beat out tons of cars like the McLaron SLR, a Ferrari, a Lambo, the Phantom convertable, the Aston Marin DB9 Vantage, Bently GT, BMW's, Porsche's etc etc. So yeah, it's THAT nice!
