how was it?
Was great. There were the usual slow spots but over all it was fantastic. Brian Singer did a brilliant job of it.

At first I was like, ah this guy isn;t superman but after the first 30 minutes of it, it was like yep he is absolutely superman!

The effects were stunning too.

I wont give anything away, but I recommend it to anyone that is a superman fan.

Superman is back!

Is it worth it to see regular movies on Imax? never tried, only seen those made for imax short films

Just saw the movie on IMAX. It was brilliant! A bit slow here and there but it really kept the nostalgic feel of the first superman movie. I can't say much for the comics because I never read them. Don't listen to critics this movie is really entertaining.

In my opinion the music is what really gets you excited if you are a fan of the old movie.

I missed it. the tickets were sold out. DO you think it'll really make a difference if I see it at Imax instead of the regular theater?

IMAX to me is more about the sound than anything. I found the 3D to be kind of a nuisance sometimes because of the loss in clarity. But the superior sound more than makes up for it.

My theater has crappy sound in all the regular screens so IMAX was the way to go.

To tangent a bit: is it just me who can't view 3D?
I can view certain distances, but any time it goes in close, I have to throw the glasses off or close my eyes cause it hurts.

Critics are stupid. Hearing an 80-year-old man rant and bicker about how Nacho Libre is tasteless and non-artistic isn't my cup of tea.

Kevin Spacey played Lex Luthor in a less campy way than Gene Hackman
I just want to watch this movie for the scene where he's like "Tell me what I want to hear" "Superman will come and--" "WRONG!"

Well, looking at how they did that Marlon Brando thing, and how much effort they put into something as difficult to see as that, they're going to be one hell of a wicked display of smoke & mirrors.

I saw this movie last night, it was OK. Spacey was great (imo) and he plays badguys (or any role for that matter) extremely well. :) I don't know, maybe I missed the first 3 Supermans (or were there 4??) and didn't really understand the plot as much as I could have. It was also kind of long, some parts slow, I would say 2.5 hours running time.. And yes, some good special effects and scenes.

I heard the director wanted a nobody to play the role of Superman for this movie. He found the actor kind of by fluke, bartending in Hollywood. "The most money every spent on a film".. Reminds me of Waterworld where they had to go in and digitally enhance Kevin Costner's hair to make it look more wet.... Cost hundreds of millions of dollars. Same deal with Superman Returns, Superman's package was "too big". Hah hah hah. Damn, it must be hard to make a movie.

There was some cool stuff, but this was kind of a weird, slow movie and it didn't feel like there was much substance to it. Really seems like a missed opportunity for them to kind of reinvent Superman for a new generation, instead of doing the nostalgia trip thing.

I believe there were 4 superman movies, and one supergirl movie.

The movie was good when it was in the action parts, but then would just screech to a halt and make you feel like falling asleep because when it got dull, it got REALLY dull REALLY fast.

I agree about Kevin Spacey playing his part well. I loved the part where he's like "Tell me what I want to hear" and yells "WRONG!" in her face.

The movie would have been markably better were they to have given Lex a less annoying girlfriend. I think that was the person from that really crappy Josie and the Pussycats movie.

There were 4 movies. Superman Returns takes place after the 2nd though. They decided (rightly) they would ignore the errors that were S3 and S4.

At the end of 2 supes puts Lex in jail etc etc. 5 years later he returns .....

Superman Returns is sort of like a replacement film for Superman 3.

Yeah it was slow at some points but they had to get all that background stuff out out somehow.

Amazing how similar Metropolis looks like Sydney too ;)

Some parts have small bits that may give away sections of the movie. Nothing major, though.

I'm seeing a lot of stuff in there that I didn't see in the drive-in theatre--I'm wondering if they trimmed it down for the theatre, or if they just cut a lot out of the movie in general...

Wasn't it #2 where Superman flew around the Earth till he went back in time? Wasn't that a bit of something they may want to uhhh erase like the 3rd and 4th movies?
