Source Code - SEE THIS MOVIE

I thought it was a pretty good movie except for the cheesy scientist. Why do they always try to portray the brilliant scientist as a cripple? Also the way the scientist explained how things worked was pretty cheesy and made me laugh.

Source Code - mediocre movie about a gay guy who travels back in time. Okay watch.

Unlimitless - EXCELLENT movie. The epitome of a hustler. Must watch.

12 Assassin: Celebrating the Japanese samurai with gore. Good watch.

Meh, Source Code was average at best.

There was another thread about 13 assasins, and if you're into asian flicks be sure to watch a bunch of the south korean ones. Like The man from nowhere and the more hardcore thrillers like Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Lady Vengeance, The Chaser and the latest, I saw the devil. Violent but great ones, if you're into that

North Korea really isn't best Korea

That movie fucking sucked and let me tell you why... SPOILERS:

So the "Source Code" is supposed to basically be a snapshot of someone's brain, correct? So then, how exactly does he go into the "Source Code" to look for a bomb, unless the person's brain they extracted the code from has actually seen the bomb? That plot hole alone was enough to make me hate it. There are some other big plot holes, but I'll just leave it at that, because it's big enough that it ruins the movie completely for me.

While you are completely correct, I couldn't care less about that.

I don't watch a movie to get an accurate lesson in physics. I watch it to be entertained for 100 minutes and stop thinking about work. Or to saddle up next to a lady (not this time though!)

This movie totally took me out of my world and out of my comfort zone. That's all I ask for.

+1, and don't forget the bullshit ending - an alternate universe, created in a mind, that continues after death? wtf? 5/10 at best.

Hmm... no, the alternate universe (parallel world) is supposed to real, not created in mind. That's the whole point of the story. The ending is what makes it good IF you get it.

But I have to agree, the extrapolation of memories bs doesn't make sense but that aside, it's still a pretty good movie. IMHO.

Both Source Code and Limitless are good ones. I liked Jumper too. I didn't really get what's going in Inception. It made me sleep so fast. Will see Mr. Nobody and Moon soon. Thanx for the suggestions :)

There was another movie in which a guy kind of went back in time to meet her girlfriend when she was young. That was good too. I forgot the name

Saw Source Code the other night. Pretty decent but not as great as a lot of people were telling me.

And they explain that the "Source Code" is more than just a snapshot of the person's last eight minutes but rather the "source" or building block of a temporary alternative reality (which isn't actually temporary). And the alternate universe in the ending isn't created in a mind, but is rather another reality in which his consciousness has switched over. The idea being that they had been creating new parallel realities over and over throughout the movie; the main character recognized this and felt there was something real to them, which is what compelled him to ask and go back in one more time and save the train.

If you liked Source Code check out 12 Monkeys, same feel but much better.

It is created in mind, as the guy is being used to run the "code". They inject the consciousness of the guy, into the last eight minutes of the world that was captured by the dead guys brain. The guys mind is basically being used to simulate the world. Therefore, you shut off the mind, and the "code" would shutdown too.

For the sake of scifi, I can accept that choices spawn an alternative parallel universe - but the idea that they made a machine which unintentionally creates parallel universes, and allows communication between them, is just retarded.

I've never understood why someone would hate something because of a plot that might be rather dubious at points rather than suspend their disbelief in order to enjoy themselves. What's so "retarded" about a machine that unintentionally creates parallel universes, especially if you're willing to believe that every choice or probability could branch reality? I think there's a reasonable (albeit tenuous) difference between simply replicating eight minutes of memory than using the eight minutes to "seed" a new reality.

You guys that didn't like Source Codes are srs party poopers from physics class.

I just watched it tonight and thought it was pretty good, my wife liked it too.

If all movies threw imagination out the window for scientific realism we would have a very boring list of movies to watch.

Imagination is fine. Breaking the laws of the universe makes for bad entertainment.

The data that this guy is looking for doesn't exist. It's possible could see a bomb sitting at his feet and just glanced over it. But it's impossible that he opens a door he never opened and finds something he never saw.

Independence Day VS Battle Los Angeles

In IE the aliens come for our natural resources. They never say what exactly but we could theorize that it's a rare element that they can't find elsewhere. Then they proceed to obliterate us with giant weapons from high up in the sky, also believable.

In Battle Los Angeles they come for our water (what?????) They give a shitty excuse that our water is liquid. But come on, they don't have fucking microwaves?

1. Find comet
2. Melt comet

Then... They launch a GROUND ASSAULT? Really? These guys likely invented faster than lightspeed technology to search the universe for planets with melted ice just so they could drop shock troops onto the ground and get raped by people with seriously low tech weapons.

Independence Day while not supremely realistic is definitely more realistic than Battle LA, which makes it a better movie.

Likely if aliens do show up they'll simply vaporize us for orbit and take what they want after the planet is void of any disturbances. Not much of a movie but definitely realistic.

What would make a better movie:

The earth falling out of orbit because a giant asteroid crashed into the moon fucking shit up.

or

The earth falling out of orbit because space rabbits landed on earth and they're really fat?

TLDR: Stop defending lazy writing.

I really hyped myself up for Moon and thought I'd really enjoy it, but tbh it was pretty dissapointing. Visually it was quite nice but there was no big twist or mindfuck like everyone claimed :\ So I'm not sure whether to bother with this one..
