Every month or two I do these to keep people updated. Every month or so we also fall behind with this or that. We have way too many ideas for our own good and not enough available talent or man power to make it happen.
Well, on with the show. First order of business... New additions!
1- A poll was posted on here to see what you kids think about adding an adult section to WickedFire. Majority ruled on that one. Pretty one sided overall. Some very valid points on both sides of the argument, but at the end of the day, majority does rule. So yes, there will be an adult section being added to WickedFire before October. BUT.... We are going to start doing things a bit differently here. Instead of Brandon and I taking care of starting it up and doing the work and upkeep for it, we are now going to appoint new or current staff members and/or Moderators to be the "project manager" or "Section Leader" for that umm section!
The section leader for the adult area is going to be John. He was the first Mod to volunteer for it, so he gets the gig. Sucks for you John, now you have to look at hot chicks all day long. We really feel for ya.
2- Another section making it's long awaited debut here... A section just for Domainers. This industry is hardcore. More so than Adult. I consider myself a domainer nowadays, and I can honestly say it feels like I'v become a day trader, but the only difference is that this is cheaper, quicker to make cash but the market NEVER closes! Ahhhh! And it's soooo addicting.
The section leader for the domainer area is going to be our very own Lord Brar, who also happens to be a Moderator at DNForum. He's not giving up his gig over there just to manage a section here, but he is going to help us develop and expand our goals to become a recognizable and trusted part of the fairly secretive and very anonymous domainer industry. We are also NOT... I repeat... NOT going up against DNF in any way shape or form. We're actually planning on launching some services that I hope will help forge a partnership between DNF and WF. No sense in trying to rival them when they are already damn good at what they do, makes a lot more sense to just join them and work together. We're still in idea mode with services for them.
3- SEO_Mike is leading the pack with being the man in charge for our WickedFire fashion and SWAG line. If you want to order shit, go to him for it. He's heading the project and except for total creativity for the designs, he will be in charge of everything else. So do not piss that man off, or you may get a bag of dog shit delivered to your house instead of a WF tshirt (I'll beat you smartasses to it, and just say -- "is there a difference in quality?" Durrrrr). This will be ready to roll before October I think. It's actually all up to Mike. Yay for being the responsible one!
That does it for new sections.
Services!
We're going to be introducing a whole theme park of services to clean this industry up, and get rid of the shitty affiliates and networks, and keep only the ones who are legitimate and make sure everyone gets their money.
1- Mediation Services - We're going to be launching a custom in-house mediation service to both the networks and affiliates. From now on, when you are owed money, we'll give you the option to have us mediate the issue whether it's between Affiliate and Network, Advertiser and Network or Network and Network. We've partnered up with one scary man who runs a top notch B2B debt collection service AND law firm. So it's the best of both worlds, in a very scary kind of way. The goal is to keep the arguments within the industry to a minimum, and to keep the trash off of the forums, not only THIS forum, but everywhere. I for one am sick of seeing it. I'll personally go over the TOS or contract, and have our partnered lawyers look over the contracts, and based on our OUTSIDE and NEUTRAL perspective, we'll do our best to cut a deal to make sure both parties are happy. I doubt we can do it for everyone, but so far, I have a 100% success rate from the few people I've done it with. This will go live before October (very soon actually since it doesn't require any real software on our part, just steps on how to work it out).
2- Private Paid Membership areas. We're currently in beta at the moment with the one we have now. Anyone can join it, but you have to pay $55/mo to join, and you can't be a newbie. You also MUST contribute one thread during each month you're a paid member. If you pay, then bolt and don't post, you're going to piss Lerch off, and he's going to say some very not nice things about you to make you cry and say you're sorry.
But our goal is actually to launch different but VERY targeted private paid sections here so that the real dirt that a lot of you don't want the search engines to pick up or the newbies to use on their blogs for free will see.
With the memberships, as soon as we are out of beta, we'll be accepting applications for regular members and staff members alike to be able to launch their own private paid area, in which they run and are in charge of the niche, content and users. They can also decide on the price they want to charge, and it will be split with us 60/40.. we get the 40%. We'll take care of the billing and management, and of course traffic, you just take care of the quality of the area and keeping the subscribers satisfied (even if it means swallowing!!!).
There are more innovations that are nearly complete and TOP SECRET for the moment, so there is no hype for that here. Sorry. I know you really wanted to see more shit. And I can't wait for 2010 when we can finally roll out the stuff behind the icons on the top of the page! Yay!
