their marketplace is fully "pay $5 for this"" and $10 for this and $20 for that

Right greedy cunts nowadays.

I can't wait until EarnersForum's marketplace is released. According to Lee, it's going to be the "Best webmaster marketplace the internet has ever seen"... Or something like that.

I agree and decided this a while ago. Their tech forums are full of god people though but a majority of articles are fucking lame, their market place is a rip off for the shit quality of suppliers and they spam way to fucking much useless "web master" products.

I still visit every other day though :)

I dont mind the sell your sites to have listing fees, but for looking to hire and want to buy forums too.. they must be stupid. Why would you make something that brings ppl in to check out the forums everyday to see what new job/opportunity there is to be fee based.

All the fees pissed me off too. Especially the 'looking to hire', like hydrogin said.

There's a thread where everyone goes off on what a rip off it is to charge $10 in 'looking to hire' and how tough it makes it for small jobs. The suck-ups with sitepoint badges just defended everything sitepoint does with a bad, smart ass additude. I'm not sure how they keep those people so loyal (aren't they just volunteers?!) but it reminds me of some lame high school committee.

Since wicked fire, I don't have to get that sitepoint fix.

Sitepoints been shitty for a loooooooooong time now. Same old threads over and over, same old douchebags over and over, I don't even have a problem with them charging fees to use their marketplace I just think the community is shit.

i got right pissed the other day downloading to read one of the new checklist articles to find out if it wasn't an article at all but a fukkin sales pitch for this ladies new book. most of it just referenced her book rather then providing any real information. seemed to be more of a checklist of where in her book to read. LAME

buhaha! We should get that chick on Space Ghost: Coast to Coast. If you've seen it, you know what I mean. They tell the guest they can plug their book before the show and then Space Ghost either ignores them or cuts them off with a totally unrelated question.

Awesome show. :D

That's what's been pissing me off too just today.. :2gunsfiring_v1:

I'm still a fan of sitepoint...

It's the best place to get a quick answer to a problem (since they have so many people online at any time of the day, especially because of the wide range of worldwide memebers).

Also, the fees can be a good thing. I get a lot of my jobs though sitepoint and the new fees have filtered out some of the crap jobs that people would post. And they have a min. price you can offer, so you don't get paid beans to do decent work.

Sitepoint really was the beginning point for me to learn all of this stuff and find other website's like Chris's websitepublisher.net. Unfortunately, its not worth visiting very much anymore.

They wanted me to write one of their "kits" for them. I was thinking about going with it, just so I could have my name plastered all over the site. However, I talked to Dan Theis who wrote their Search Engine Marketing Kit, and he had a very bad experience with them. First, he thought he was writing a book, then they changed their payment terms from quarterly to yearly! After I heard that, I said no thanks.

I think Sitepoint has its uses, but like WebmasterWorld really has some bad points.

Who cares about paying a few dollars to post in the marketplace whats the big deal. So many threads on forums people whining about sitepoint charging seriously how gay.

WW is like a museum.. I dont even bother going there anymore

SitePoint is a great resource of knowledge and I have a few of their books which are very informative

Although I disagree with the fees for "Looking to hire" and "sell your site"

I sold one of my sites on there and paid the listing fee.. within a few hours I was off the 1st page and didnt make the sale.. arggh!! :angryfire:

They must be making a killing with the marketplace..

I guess when your on top theirs haters..

It's about time I finally found out about a good new place to talk development. SitePoint lost all it's respectable members. I used to go there everyday and it was one inspiration after the next, now it's one n00b after the next n00b talking about how to not be a n00b anymore. Not to mention it's turned into the most redundant forum since some pop musician fan site forum community. It's good to breath again! Thanks for making this stylish new forum Jon. I digg it, pun intended.

I also like forum darkness (color) .. cant stand white bg forums .. or maybe I am spending too much time on the computer

I still like Sitepoint a lot. I used to love it though. While it's true that lately SP has started to go a bit downhill in a few arenas, it really hasn't changed all that much and is still full of a lot of members who are helpful and knowledgable.

If they start charging to make new threads or reply though...
