Galleries that get their traffic from search engines and traffic trades.
I have some PPC campaigns that convert around 1:100, but they're getting rare.

Tube sites are taking over, but I know a few cats who are making a killing, but like mentioned above stick to niches that are out of the norm.
 
I have a site network with only general picture galleries that gets almost 300k pageviews per day and I'm having a hard time breaking the $1000 per month barrier. It used to earn me a lot more, but those days are over.
 
I have worked for a long time on the adult side of things and my day job is as an affiliate manager at an adult sponsor. If you are looking to get into I will be more than happy to help you however I can. (That offer goes for everybody btw because I figure I will learn enough here about 'mainstream' to give back some) However, it is not an easy field and is no longer a quick money scheme at all. Long gone are the days where you could just throw sites up and the money starts to flow in the next day. There certainly is money in it but you have to work for it. So, if the idea is that it is easier to sell then that isn't really true these days. However, if you simply want to diversify and are willing to work for it then there is indeed money there to be had.

As folks have said..go micro niche and thank me later :)
