Let's not try to make Russia out as the good guy riding in on thier white horse to save the small and weak SO. Putin wants Mikhail Saakashvili gone. He is a friend with the US and wants NATO membership. Regime Change at it's finest.
Pretty much irrelevant.
Georgia is the aggressor here, no doubt about it.
I'm sorry, but Russia has a lot more reasons to be in Ossetia (90% population = russian citizens) then US ever had invading Iraq or treating Iran and Serbia.
Yea..your right no relevance whatsoever. So it's ok that The Former Soviet Union ignores the U.N and Ignores the fact that Georgia has offered a cease fire. Then attacks targets that have nothing to do with SO.
We have more reasons to attack Mexico than Russia has attacking Georgia.

Not saying I agree with it, but they can't as a result [Texas v. White]Why can't California leave the US?
Georgia attacks a little independent protectorate filled with ethnic Russians, kills 2000 people, and then Russia comes in and whups their ass, because Georgia thought it could get away with this under the flag of NATO.I get the whole attitude now. I suspected such. So because some of you hate the US and Georgia is a staunch allie with the US, then they deserve to be overtaken by one of the most corrupt and dangerous governments on the face of the planet.
Makes sence.
I'll be glad when this America hating fad that the kids have going on is over. It really is fucking stupid.

As far as I'm concerned you're the smartest guy in the room for even being aware of Texas vs. White; however, that particular SC course would be trivial to overcome and almost certainly not brought into play (old SC decisions have been routinely ignored or "reinterpreted" for over a century, no big deal there.) What I am asking is on a more fundamental and logical level -- why can't California just separate and leave? People who fixate on the idea that they can't, don't seem to follow that line of thinking to its logical conclusion, which is that the only two types of states ate static and expanding. History shows us that the only successful static states have been for the most part very small and isolationist (Iceland, Switzerland, Monaco, Lesotho etc. ) and the only ones that expanded and expanded eventually collapsed (Rome, Byzantium, Mongolia, the various European empires, the "colonial" efforts which followed them, the USSR, etc.)
Additionally, if you look at a map of the world from 1900 and compare it to one from 2000, there are rather a lot more countries on the newer map than the older. Not a whole lot more land though. So obviously the world's states have a tendency to not only expand, but to also contract -- so why can't California secede? Why is it a big deal?
Frank
Georgia was committing genocide, and attacked innocent civilians. How you can excuse that is beyond me.
True. Georgia started it and there's no excuse for that. However, Russia is taking advantage of the situation. Russia is still bombing targets outside ossetia even though Georgia have accepted defeat and withdrawn their troops. The reason for this is most likely to scare ex-USSR states that want to join NATO. Bitches.
You are 100% correct. DO NOT join NATO bitches. Russia could give a fuck less about SO. Anyone that thinks that Russia gives a fuck about human rights read up on Chechnya.
..or go to nearest Indian Reservation to see human rights in action. Picture worth a thousand words.
They have indian reservations in Georgia. Are those Apache or Cherokee?
Your hatred for the US is hiding your intelligence. This argument has nothing to do with the US. Russia isn't invading the US...they are illegally invading Georgia.
If the US is so bad please move to Europe and enjoy nanny state and sharia law.
So US "legally" invaded Afghanistan, Iraq, Serbia and who gave them that right exactly?
Woah, that's a real slippery slope right there...The US needs no permission.
That argument had a lot to do with human rights , you referred to in your post claiming that Russia does not know what it is.
All I'm saying ,it would sound fair from someone from Switzerland for example.
Comments about "human rights" and "illegally invading other country" coming from American make people in the rest of the world laugh.
All Russia did in this case was protecting civilians, remind you again 90% of population of Ossetia are Russian citizens.
Illegaly?
Russia was chosen by UN to overlook situation in Ossetia and had piecekeepers there.
What they were suppose to do? Ask Georgians politely to leave?
Maybe provide them free first class from Ossetia to Tbilisi?
The funniest thing is , Russia made beautifull exit:
Civilians protected, Georgians punished and Russia keeps face because they demanded what to write in agreement that Georgia and big 8 will sign.
And Bush... He demanded Russia to leave immediately in his speech.
He put himself into a corner. He is lucky it ended this way.
Otherwise, he would have to loose his face or drag Americans into war with Russia . And what's sad - people like you , probably because of luck of education or intelligence, will blindly support it.
So US "legally" invaded Afghanistan, Iraq, Serbia and who gave them that right exactly?
Woah, that's a real slippery slope right there...
I guess the UK doesn't need permission to re-annex the USA, by force if necessary, then... After all, it DID belong the Empire at one point.
Not going to happen.
Not saying it should happen.
Just pointing the ad abdsurdum conclusion of such an argument.
