Hello All,

So we launched a new web site 2 weeks ago.

The first two days the business did well after launch. After that we have not seen an increase in sales.

I'm really hoping that you guys with your vast experience can rip it apart and critique the shit outta it.

WeeklyPlus.com - Subscribe for week long deals on things you do everyday!

You will probably be re-directed to the denver membership page, just click the top left logo and you'll get to the site. The signup form is working great!

This might be in the wrong section. Apologies in advance if that's the case.

Regards,

Nick

People that are already on the site will not get to the membership page. It only appears once, the very first time you visit the site.

If you clear your cookies, Groupon also takes you to their membership page on your first visit ;)

the buy it clock is way to over-detailed.
Causes too much initial confusion and clutter especially when presented on the current deals page 20 times in a row.
Don’t like it.
Simplify it.

Also you do know you are entering one of the most competitive sector on the web right now and competing against some of the top talent in the industry?
You do also know that the majority of these companies are beginning to show major flaws in business model and are failing?

Very valid points, I'll post an old version so you can see what we had before as the clock was there.

We are not entering, we have been doing this since December 2009 and have done well, as we have a very strong following in the markets we are in.

Obviously all the extra competition has contributed to things such as deal fatigue and that 'sense of urgency' is dwindling away if not non-existent now.

This is what the old deal page looked like.

The cart was getting a 35% conversion rate on avg and it's dropped down. I know we got hit with black friday and cyber monday, but Groupon for one is doing very well today.

The "W+" Logo looks like "W4"

"It's Free" looks like a url but isn't.

I had to stop and do a double-take because I didn't intuitively realize I could change Denver to another city.

Where it says "Deal of the Week" I assumed it would actually show me some kind of deal under it.

In fact, the entire "It's Free...of the week" block looks like a large header or title, with nothing underneath it.

A few design nitpicks:

The tagline with "so and so has saved whatever" is stupid. I don't care what other people are doing, and it's not linked to anything more. Pretty useless, drop it.

The use of the word "Subscribe" is misleading. Pick one word (sign up, subscribe, connect, etc) and stick with it. It appears now as if subscribe just gets the updates to your email and you aren't actually a member of the site.

As others have said, the clock is weird. Take out the clock and just keep the blue bar count down.

Add G+ to your "Share This" section. More for visual than anything as I had to look a few times for the share buttons.

The side bar with the other offers is not eye catching. Instead of titling it with the location, use the subject of the offer like "Spa Deal". I know the offers are for my city already.

Have the business website linked in the initial "Deal Overview" section. It takes two seconds and I want to be able to look at their website immediately, not scan your site for the store hours and location.

The "Ask A Question" box is big and amateur looking. Consider something cleaner and smaller. Also who am I asking a question to? The site owners? The salon owners? etc.

I don't know if it's my screen resolution or what, but there is an awkwardly huge gap between the deal ending and your bottom bar of info.

Your "How It Works" page has a very non-enticing video. If you have the budget, consider contracting an animator to make a short tutorial on how your site works. That's infinitely more appealing than the news clip.

Other than that I think the site looks pretty nice...a vast improvement over your previous design.

The signup form is not providing any problems but those suggestions are great.

Our audience is 100K+ via email. People are not buying deals from the deal page. Some are going to the cart but we have seen a 10% decrease on the conversion rate this week (go to cart and complete purchase). Also noticing that our open rate is half. So that is likely due to black friday / cyber monday as our ESP is excellent and we even have certification (guaranteed inbox delivery).

Where is the fucking Geo Targeting?

Others:

Put the Savings much more uptop (more prominent)
Make clock WAY smaller
Make BUY now way bigger and more promient
Don't put the subscribe up on top, since it is well demonstrated people tend to ignore that part of the page
Put the teeth witening offer somewhere else, to me it undermines your existing promotion

I don't have time for more ripping, but; hi from CR, we should get together one day.

@Teegs props for the suggestions.

It's there. I do it all behind the scenes when you arrive. It actually works really great. If you clear your cookies and hit the site via HMA Phoenix or Dallas the respective city will be displayed. If you are not in Phoenix or Dallas the default is Denver as it is our biggest market.

Valid points, thank you! Since everyone has the same suggestions about the clock I think we need to give that option a try. We'll do Buy It, then Value / Discount / Savings at the top followed by the time.

It just happens that the teeth whitening ends tonight so that's why it's there. It is a different deal there everyday.

CR = Costa Rica? If so for sure! Would be great to meet up. Would be nice to talk to someone like minded in this country.

Am I reading the above deal right or would I actually have to make two separate purchases? One to buy the voucher and then purchase again on the actual merchant's page? If that's not the case the deal rules aren't very clear. If that is the case, yikes, it seems like a poor purchasing experience that me personally would stay away from. You may want to clarify that unless it's just a peculiarity of that one particular deal.
