Quitting My Job....Tomorrow!

Congrats man. Been about 4.5 months since i took the plunge and it's been the best choice i ever made in my entire life ever in the history of my whole entire life since i've been born until now.

Good luck!

Wow you guys are great, thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I have not heard many people say that they did something on their own and absolutely hated it. Most people say they quit and never looked back. I think I'll be one of those people.

I met with my manager to discuss this and she was shocked. She definitely wasn't expecting my resignation and was concerned about what I was doing (because of the unstable economy etc), but I reassured her things will be fine and that I have to "do this for myself". I didn't get into detail about what I do online as I didn't really want to say that I've been doing this part time on the side and even during work hours etc. I basically want to keep all my bridges in tact even though I really didn't enjoy working there.

So the deed is done, I just need to submit my formal resignation tomorrow (letter). I'm not sure how long I'll have to stay (the bank policy is 4 weeks notice), but I certainly won't be bustin my ass these next few weeks :) Lookin forward to fully networkin with you guys and hopefully can get some more shit goin. Adtech & ASW 2010 here I come!

I'm in Vancouver Canada btw. Thanks for the spliff offer Boom, will take you up if we ever cross paths :)

congrats!

i know it's too late now, but since you (used to) work for a major corporation, and assuming your performance reviews were good, you could have requested a 6-12 month leave of absence, and had something to fall back on just as a contingency. but then again, the mentality of escaping the rat race without looking back is the right attitude in my opinion. good work.

IronLogik true and thanks for the suggestion. I've looked into an extended LOA but the policy states that I cannot be working at another job. If caught I would be fired, so I think it's better to leave on good terms. :)

I don't think you can collect employment when you are paying yourself modest sums of money from your own corp :)

Congrats man, it must be an awesome feeling you are having right now!

All the best to you on your new journey :)

Congrats on leaving your job and not being one of those people that complain about it all the time but never leave. Hope your other endeavors are prosperous. :music06:

I handed in my letter of resignation today, and spoke with my department head about leaving. It was pretty awesome, he pretty much said he wishes me all the best and if I need to come back to give him a call. Made me feel pretty good considering the shitty economic situation.

So a couple more weeks and Im free!!! Wooooohoooo!!!!

Wish i had enough courage like you.

Slide on over to the day job where you can wake up and make anything happen. Welcome! Fuck corporate America...never again will I go there. They can eat a dick.
