Quick, cost effficient meals.

this is gonna sound ridiculous, but dont knock it.
Take a peice of bread, and a peice of that individualy wrapped presliced cheese
put them together and squash them into a ball so the cheese is inside, and the outside is a squashed bread ball.
Put it on a baking pan and bake it for less than 5 minutes at 350 or something, just keep your eye on it.
I know it sounds weird but try it.

My grandfather used to make me two different things that were pretty odd but delicious:

- Milk Toast... Pop some bread in the toaster, butter it, put it in a bowl, pour milk over it and microwave.

- Milk Grahams... Butter inbetween two graham crackers... place in bowl, pour milk over it and microwave.

Both of the above are eaten with a spoon.

I'd eat anything that isn't/without meat, dairy, non-organic, caffeine, tap water. Everything else lowers lifespan and sperm production, etc. (do your own research though)

You guys are disappointing me. You eat like 12 year olds, lol. There is a lot of shit you can make that's really cheap, easy and tastes fantastic. Going to come back and post some stuff when I have a few mins, running out the door right now.

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

A whole chicken is less than $5

Ingredients

1 (2 to 3 pound) whole chicken
salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon paprika

Directions

Wad three pieces of aluminum foil into 3 to 4 inch balls, and place them in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Rinse the chicken, inside and out, under cold running water. Pat dry with paper towels. Season the chicken with the salt, pepper and paprika, and place in the slow cooker on top of the crumbled aluminum foil.
Set the slow cooker to High for 1 hour, then turn down to Low for about 8 to 10 hours, or until the chicken is no longer pink and the juices run clear.

MARINADE FOR SWORDFISH, SALMON, HALIBUT, ETC.

3 cloves garlic, crushed
Juice of 1 whole lemon, approx. 1/3 c.
1 tsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. poupon mustard
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. tarragon
1/4 tsp. basil

Combine all ingredients and pour into Ziploc bag. Marinade fish in bag for 1 hour or overnight. Broil or grill.

Canned soup is super fast and cheap, and if you buy the right stuff, it can also be healthy.

I also eat a lot of grilled cheese, bagged salads, and homemade Kung Pao chicken.

The Kung Pao takes about 20-30 minutes to make, but the payoff is totally worth it.

This thread is about quick meals. Nobody here is going to wait for 8-10 hours. That's why women were invented.

You just made me laugh. Thanks for that.

Listen all you hopeless dudes who think they can't cook for themselves. I absolutely can help you...if you want. You should all go out and buy a cheap slow cooker (crock pot -- ask your mom). You put meat (a beef roast, pork or chicken) in it in the morning. throw in some seasoning and turn the thing on. Let it cook all day. When you get home throw in some veggies and let it cook for 45 more minutes. Kids, what you have then is good food. Really good food and a lot of it.

If you want me to post you some super fast and cheap recipes I will. Later.

Yeah, I guess I didn't really mention it in the OP, but this thread was meant for meals you can whip up while working. Meaning, stand up, go to kitchen, whip it up, be done making it within 5 minutes back at the desk on the grind.

Lot's of good ideas though :)
