What config settings does everyone use for good results?

I have been using:

#proxyfinder config
proxythreads=100
monitorthreads=5
minutesperupdate=10
outputpath=proxies.txt
email= X
callbackurl= X
proxystaleseconds=600
proxytimeout=10

anything to change?

You can try to experiment with more threads, apart from that, it looks fine!

What should we be putting as the call back url?

Ran it out of the box, after inputting my email address....Didn't find any proxies.

Also, what's the deal with the sources.txt? I'm sure i have to get more, but not sure where to get them at.

EDIT: Should this be working on Vista?

Callback is for it you want to send proxies to a script on a server, it's optional.

You probably need a patch, linked to earlier in the thread, for XP / Vista SP1. PM me if you need help!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner; been really busy. I originally had problems with Proxyfinder due to my own technological limitations. I had XP as an OS on my box and AVG for antivirus. Both of these will limit your outbound connections, so it's advisable to upgrade your OS to Windows 7 or patch your tcpip.sys file as Matt mentioned.

I upgraded to Windows 7 and grabbed Avast as my anti-virus. I'm steadily seeing up to 70+ proxies now. If you run those proxies through a tester (as in the one that's included with SB), you'll get around 10-20 good proxies to work with.

Ordered ProxyFinder, now what?

I ordered ProxyFinder (Unique Transaction ID #0Y899598P9734801X) via paypal. However I have not received any email as to how or where to download it.

Thanks for the link. Looks like your program is going to do the trick.

(2) Questions:

1.Whats suppossed to go in the "callbackurl:"? (I left it at the default text)

2.Is there any way to have the proxies.txt file saved to another path other than the root of the ProxyFinder program?

I can make a little batch script to move the proxy list to where I need it, but if there's a mod somewhere I can make for the proxies.txt save elsewhere, that would work better.

Here's what Matt said earlier in the post about your callback question.

I'm running Windoze 7. No problems with my OS. Everything seems to do just fine with a copy of my proxy txt file to megapinger. Just did not know what the call back was. I appreciate your reply, but I still don't know what a callback is and how the script works. No matter, if I can leave the callback line item text at default and it works, I am ok with it.

As I write this, I was thinking wouldn't it be cool to hammer megapinger together with Proxyfinder. Think about it.... While MegaPinger pings, ProxyFinder could locate from time to time proxies and update the proxy list for MegaPinger.

callbackurl is for sending the proxies to a script on a server.

MP and PF work fine together, if PF is running, and MP is using the proxies.txt, MP will always use the most up to date proxies.

ok, so what your saying is, If you point MegaPinger to proxies.txt, MegaPinger will continually read and reread the proxies.txt file and pickup file changes as they occur from ProxyFinder.
