Post your workspace/setup v2.0

I recently built (read: wrote the check for) a dedicated freestanding 10' x 15' office in my backyard.

I'll get some pictures up shortly but for anyone with families/kids at home this is something I'd highly recommend.

That's next for me. Converting a "shed"? That's what I plan on doing. Just make sure you beef up the door and entry points. It's really easy to break into a shed. In my case that's about 10k in equipment going bye bye.

Concrete pour - shed delivery - some drywall - power conduits running about a foot underground - paint and carpet. Something you can finish in a few days.

I've been using 'Das Ultimate' on my desktop and I really like it, but I miss having a wireless keyboard.

I saw that the Das Keyboard keyboard has blank keys - whats the point of that?

40k? the price I saw started at 4900 on their site.

I got the inspiration for it from the lifehacker.com feature (which I suspect you've seen) but soon decided that to do it "right" (as I wanted) I'd just have it built from the ground up.

It's on a 4800psi 18" deep slab, fully permitted, fully insulated, finished, the same windows that are in my house were put on, singled to match the house, painted to match the house, steel door, data distribution (ethernet/phone/directv) to 4 points in the office via in-wall distribution panel which also houses a 4 port switch), alarm system tied in, low voltage dimmable track lighting, doorbell wired to chime so I can hear people out front, and heated/air conditioned. Rain gutters are also now on (not pictured) and tied into my yard's site drains.

It's pretty much the ultimate man cave.

Few pics though I'll get some recent ones showing the 32" tv mounted, shelving mounted, blah blah blah.

The pics make it look tiny, but dimensions at 15x10' - ceiling is 10' in the center and 8.5' where it meets each wall, it's downright spacious for one person (in fact most corporate offices I've had were in the 10x12' range)

The outside pics are during the (extremely messy) construction process, landscaping will be tied in shortly the match the rest of the yard.

That's fucking awesome.

Thanks! It's nice to be able to 'leave work at work' more than when I was using a spare bedroom as a dedicated office. I'm sure many can relate to the 'hmm did xyz campaign turn on / perform / die - I'll just quickly check" as you pass that room on the way somewhere else in the house.

That peace and productivity increase alone has been well worth the cost.

yeah thats nice buddy of mine wants to do that, when I have kids I'm gonna need to do that I don't need them bothering me every 5 minutes

Im close to doing something very similar to this as I seen it on Lifehacker like you mentioned.

The only problem is where I need to place my "shed" is in an area where I would need to dig the trench for the power line through my driveway and then repave it, which is not too much trouble, but a hassle none the less.

Whats the point, besides showing that you're doing real moniez on da internet, of having setups with 3+ screens? One for porn, one for IM, one for WF?

I didn't notice it until now, but what the hell is going on over on the projection screen. I can't tell if it's some guys cock or a dude with his hands on his head? I'm really hoping it's the later.

nothing wrong with going lowtech sometimes

except the power consumption won't handle it, it's not to code and thus if anything were to happen (say- your house burn down) your ins company would promptly laugh.

But you of all people w/ your indoor tanning setup can appreciate there's no way an extension cord to a 15amp outlet in the house would power everything - especially if you have a space heater/etc.
