Post pics of your ride

Please tell me this is rented!? R8?? You don't even see those very often here in Germany. This is such a sick car, congrats! :)

Nope, I actually purchased it. I flew down to Miami this past weekend to take a glimpse at it and I was totally blown away. Pictures do absolutely no justice for the car, in person it is absolutely beautiful.

You can actually tell it is not a rental since it does not have any inspection stickers on it, and no license plates in the front nor the back. A rental car would come with plates from the rental company and would have all the appropriate stickers.

Unfortunately I will not have the opportunity to do any serious driving until tomorrow late afternoon. The title is being mailed out overnight this morning, and I cannot get temp plates from my DMV until I have the title in my hands. I have taken the car around the block in my neighborhood but I wouldn't dare taking it out any further since there are police cars cruising every other block within a 10 mile radius.

Was just looking back in this thread and noticed how I posted back in 2012 about acquiring the 5 series BMW. This was the pic I posted back then, the first day I acquired it:

Now...slightly less than two years later I find myself in a better situation with this delivery yesterday:

It is always nice to see yourself progressing through life, hopefully in the positive direction. I am sorry for using up the last 5-7 posts in this thread to post about my car, but I am sincerely ecstatic about the purchase. The Audi R8 was something that I idolized when I was younger. I remember playing my Need for Speed game, and unlocking the R8 as a car. It was always one of those cars that took a shit load of play money or stars to unlock, but once you did it had the performance and great looks in the game. To finally be able to materialize my emotions back then means so much to me right now.

In all seriousness why did you spend all that money on that car but leave that unsightly growth on your lip?

Well first of all, I actually had it reduced to half of its size last summer. It is not that big now. In the first picture with the BMW, that was the original size. Now it is as such:

Yes, it is still there but it isn't that big. The thing is, I have gotten mixed reactions to it, trust me, if everyone I met expressed their opinion that it should be removed completely, I would have done just that by now.

My girlfriend enjoying the looks as well.

Big ass issue is that the front of the car scraps when backing up into the driveway, I'll need to figure out a solution for this.

I don't get the whole backing up thing. Most people I see backing up take 2-3 times longer than just pulling in and for what? In any case, the angle is your friend for your scrapping issue. The more of an angle you can get the better. Nice ride though!

How much did that cost you? Here in Denmark it's like $200.000 for the beast.

I have to give you some respect for even answering that question as honest and as nice as you did. Totally changed my mind about you ( not that it was bad to begin with, but I have more respect for you as a person now )

I picked up the Lambo a couple months ago and drive it about twice a week. The Mercedes is my daily driver. As you can tell I love black cars.

Take turns into/out of a driveway at a hard angle and you can go up any incline. My front lip has about 3.5 inches of clearance so I know the feel. Just be careful when parking cause you'll run the bumper right up onto the sidewalk or parking block.

Shit man. I feel like a degenerate peasant after seeing these photos. Thanks for ruining my day/inspiring me mGruning.

One question though: which ride do you ride first? Your A8 or your girlfriend?

Leaving a board across the bottom of the driveway/gutter might help unless it will get you in trouble with the city there.

I had to always leave a 2x4 in the gutter to keep from scraping when I lived in a place with just rounded curbs everywhere and no driveway cutouts.

If you think it, you will achieve it. Respect bro.

Kind of off-topic, but the "Think and Grow Rich" instagram account gives me a good boost every time they post: Instagram

I'm an SUV guy. Currently the only trucks I like the look of are Porsche Cayenne Turbo S ($110k) or Ford Edge Sport ($38k). I know, total opposite ends of the spectrum lol.

I'm honestly concerned about the reliability and quality of a domestic vehicle. Is this even an issue these days?

I can pick up a used 2013 Ford Edge Sport with 10k miles on it for around $36k. I like the big wheels. 305 hp. What do you guys think?

Is that a CLS63, if so how do you like it? MY DD is a C63 and I was thinking about switching to the CLS63. I want something that still has some kick but a little more comfortable for DD.

Ya, I love the CLS. This is the second one that I have owned. I had a cls55 before this one. They are great cars with plenty of power, but still has all the luxury you could ever want. Another car you might want to consider is the Audi RS7. I am considering that as my next daily driver.
