Poor Tact For Changing My LinkedIn?

I said a 3rd world country, HK is not a country last time I checked bro.

Are you debating you cant $1 noodles in China or HK? Are you debating you can not get roasted dog in HK or China?

Stick on topic.

This is some pretty desperate backpedaling you're pulling. The Mercer index does in fact call Hong Kong a "country" if you look. Also when I order stuff online I select "Hong Kong" as my country and not "China".

Hong Kong has its own currency and legal system that is independent of China. Entering China requires crossing an international-style border and I need my passport stamped plus a valid visa.

Hong Kong isn't a sovereign nation, but as a highly autonomous Special Administrative Region, it has more in common with city-states like Monaco than it does with other sub national entities.

I guess a hick living in the south knows more about Hong Kong than I do.

P.S. Hong Kong issues its own passports too.

How the fuck did this turn into a debate about the geo-financial status of a special administrative region.

Eliquid, were your actions in poor taste? Yes.

Does it matter in the long run? No.

OP, don't think it was a poor tact kind of move, at the end of the day it's just business. They'll get over it. I wouldn't apologize either because I don't think you have anything to apologize for. If they have an issue with it, grow a pair and terminate your position with the current company immediately and take a couple weeks off before starting your new gig.

Agreed

Better than what I happened to me once. I had put in my two week notice and the owner of the company was showing a new employee around and looked at me and said "oh he's nobody he's leaving in a week". I ended up flipping out while he decided it was a good time to go sit behind his desk. The same guy turned out to be a "recovering drunk" and would give you shit if he found out you went drinking on the weekend. He had a "talk with me" about not coming to work drunk. He was under the impression anyone who drank would eventually show up to work drunk, because he use to.

EDIT:

I guess I should answer your question instead of just ramble. I don't see what the big deal is. If you were my employee I wouldn't really care what you put on your linked in unless it was talking shit about myself or my company.

Here's even more poor tact from eliquid:

http://www.wickedfire.com/shooting-...hin-bizopp-campaigns-today-3.html#post1921604

Other people donated $50 to I2E for his great work in that thread; Eliquid decides that making a cute post be would cheaper than actually sending $50.

Do you spend your entire time on this forum digging up dirt about other users?. It seems every time i see a post from you it's to try and make someone else look bad.

First you basically stalked LukeP to the point where it was borderline creepy, and now you're doing it to eliquid.

Not sure what your motive is, but it's kinda pathetic, and pointless.

Nothing I've done to eliquid or lukep has come even close to what happened to Christopher Branca / KaniGT5 today. You could say that was pathetic and pointless too, but everyone had fun doing it because KaniGT5 was an arrogant twit and needed to be taught a lesson. People even donated money to Ice2Eskimos to thank him for exposing him.

LukeP was a conspiracy theory blow hard who pretty much saw the error of his ways and has clearly mellowed out and is now focusing on his work and moving to Thailand.

Eliquid is a no class ignoramus hick who is barely making any money independently if he needed to have a 9 to 5 job on top of his SEO work. Eliquid has put his foot in his mouth multiple times, and not just in this thread. He's even gotten mods pissed at him over his bad attitude. So I really question why you're white knighting him so hard.

This post pretty much sums up what I do:

http://www.wickedfire.com/shooting-...uble-new-thread-77-matters-4.html#post1916586

A forum in this industry has 2 choices: Be full of idiots or assholes. If you don't have the assholes to chase away the idiots, the forum fills with idiots.
The balance is certainly a bit worse than it has been in recent years, but I maintain a certain asshole population is every bit as necessary as an immune system.

I pick off all the borderline losers who are "on the bubble" here and try to flush them out.

There are plenty of people I respect here. Jon, Papajohn, Lord B, Ccarter, Danke, productionhead, greenleaves, boatBurner, guerilla, and Ice2Eskimos just to name a few.

We have had some great new comers like Robert M Gouge and Wong Shun Leung recently too.

I remember trolling eliquid in a LukeP thread saying that he probably has a 9 to 5 job and is doing SEO shit on the side. Turns out I was right.

At least now eliquid is a big shot for his friend's company.

Also yes it's poor tact, but I'd expect nothing less from a guy like that. After all, eliquid was defending lschmidt for not tipping the pizza guy. Lschmidt is another WF success story that is now "happily" working at the "start up division" of an established company.

Sorry, we all cant up and move to a 3rd world country and live on $1 noodles and 20 year old coke in glass bottles so we can make ends meet on our savings.

Im sure if I made $20 a day and only spend $1 on roasted dog daily, I could live like you.

OP,

What you did may be considered in bad taste by most SMEs wherein an inhouse employee claims to represents another brand/competitor. If the company in question would've been big enough, chances are they'd have overlooked it. However, most people in SMEs tend to get offended by such traits.

Also, many companies may not prefer you adding their name to your professional profile, unless you've actually commenced work with them. However, since in this case the other company is owned by your friend - I am sure they wouldn't mind.

Although, the question is that have you been ringing in a lot of bells and whistles about your new offer within your current environment? Prior to the notice? If yes, the linkedin issue may just have added insult to a pre-existing injury for your current CMO.

What makes you so sure you aren't one of those borderline "losers" who are "on the bubble"?

I'm sure I'm not one of those borderline "losers" because:

1. I immigrated to another country and passed a stringent vetting mechanism and was granted an Investment Visa. Most people only talk about moving to another country but never take any action.

2. The business relationships I have built up over the years, including many on this board.

3. The fact that I've been making money online since 1998 when I was pushing Xpics and maxcash. Have you even heard of Xpics? I NEVER had a 9 to 5 job actually.

4. The way I handled my legal issues like for example when I was sued by Myspace. I protected my comrades and made sure they were cleanly dismissed from the lawsuit.

The fact that your defending yourself on a internet forum, lends me to believe you most likely have some self esteem issues!

Anyhow, back to the subject at hand...

Yes, it was in poor taste... If they are still paying you, you are working for them, not someone else. It has no material impact, but it's not something you should even consider, IMO.

Well to be honest I was really debating whether or not to respond to jfizzle. I guess I took the bait. :)

This is spot on.
