Even before the internet there were plenty of sources of alternative news. Newsletters, magazines, clubs, books, etc.

There's also the fact that before the internet media was more expensive to make and limited physically. There was only so much space in a newspaper, so much time on TV stations, so much money to spend on both of those. Uncommon views would of course have limited exposure. It's the same way now for expensive media like TV and newspapers.

I'll agree with you that our freedom of speech is not perfectly protected. But we likely have more freedom of speech and press than ever before in history. My main point however is that Islamic rule would take that away IMO. I'm not sure what your main point is.

Ok, the main point I was making with that, is if you are saying anyone who doesn't get their news from a variety of news sources is ignorant, and deserves their honey boo boo child, then by that logic, 47% of America is forced*** to be ignorant, not to mention all the ones that have computers but aren't literate enough to get further than reading news they find on the major, most well-known sites (BBC, CNN etc) and checking their emails.

As to freedom of speech, does any country truly have it? In France, it's a crime to speak ill of their drug laws. In Germany, it's a crime to display a Swastika. In the UK, it's a crime to incite religious hatred. In the US, apparently it's the same, the guy who made the Muhammad film was arrested.

Anyways, my main point is that no, Islamic rule isn't any more likely to take that away than Christian rule. Just because the areas where the majority of Muslim countries are are mostly shitholes, that doesn't mean there's any kind of causation going on. Look at Africa. Are all the Christian countries doing much better than the Muslim countries? Nope, in fact, a Muslim country was doing the best, before we went in and killed their leader and erected Sharia law.

Came in this thread raging, scared that Muslims will take over. But have calmed down now thanks to some logical posts from some posters. But still don't like radical Muslims and wonder why there are people like -joe- rabidly defending them? What do you like so much about them?

Ok, and my point is that from what I've seen and read Islamic rule IS more likely to take away freedoms than Christian rule. 'Likely' being the key word here.
 
Why is it that some people from the US, who obviously hate muslims, seem to take great joy in the notion that muslims are trying to take over Europe? Honestly, i'd just like to know the reason?.

Comments like "Enjoy Sharia" and "Enjoy your muslims" shows how petty some people can be. We dont want them here as much as you dont want them in your own country.

There are more muslims in the USA than there is in the UK, maybe you should be looking closer to home if you want to vent your hatred.

Another thing i see is the continual reposting of videos of Muslims protesting as if thats some sort of barometer of a countries culture.

I dont like the invasion of muslims just as much as the next man. But to be truthfully honest, i cant remember the last time i even seen a muslim. There are no mosques in my town, and probably very very few in my closest city.

I do think however the birthrate thing is a big issue as i mentioned earlier, but we're not at tipping point yet, and at some point - the people WILL begin to fight back.

I live in Scotland, maybe it'll be a bit like this when we finally revolt, it's happened before :D

Erm, I'm not sure where I defended radical Muslims. Link me? (Other than pointing out the fact that the majority, despite using it as a reason, mainly have the US&UK blowing the shit out of their countries as the main reason. (No? Then remind me when France, the abstainer from the Iraq war, and the country that banned the Burqa got bombed))

I'd forgotten that the few years where we had not the usual 1 Christian leader, but 2, were so awesome (George Bush & Tony Blair)

Look at Africa. Pretty shitty for the most part, are we agreed? The Islamic population is growing, but currently, the balance between Christians and Muslims isn't too big. It's currently 45% Christians, 55% Muslims. Back in 2002 it was 53% Christians, 47% Muslims.

Now, is the standard of living any higher in the Christian countries than the Muslim countries? I wouldn't say so. Comparing the living standards of (let's say) Afghanistan with the living standards of the US isn't comparing like for like in any way, no more than comparing the US with Uganda.

The entire basis of my post is that there is no comparison of the Muslim or Christian countries in Africa to Europe and America, simply because Africa in itself is for the most part a pile of shit, regardless of creed.

The most damning evidence presented was that Algeria only had a 2.3 or so Muslim birth rate, but then he goes on making the assumption the rest of the time that it's not worse than Algeria in Europe. You've just made me believe the film even more!
