This kinda crap never goes away, the UK had some fucking huge, face to face sell this shit to your grandmother if you love her type pyramid schemes only a few years ago.
They sucked in tons of idiots, even people you would expect NOT to be stupid enough, including a fucking lawyer, a few teachers, a pop singer and a contestant from an entrepreneur TV show .
The most high profile (like £millions) was called women helping women or some such crap, it worked amazingly well by insisting no men could join as they are too cynical, whereas women are caring and like to help others!
Point is, these things work so well because the dumb fucks that sign up are so convinced its legit, they really will try and sell their family on its benefits.

BTW, did it ever cross your mind just once to ask why the guy that set this scheme up is doing it from Central America? Sure he told you that he's moved there because it's a paradise. But isn't it obvious there could be another reason?
