P90X?

Exercising to lose weight is 10x harder than just eating better and having a 500ish calorie deficit a day until you reach your target weight. Most people just don't realize how much exercise you have to do to burn even say 500 calories. Trust me, it's a lot easier to just not eat that piece of cake than it is to do P90X for an hour.

Long story short - just eat right, maintain a calorie deficit for awhile, and do whatever exercise you like for fun and health reasons.

The only way you'll lose a lot of weight from exercise in a reasonable period of time is if you get INSANE like Ruck and do multiple hours of high intensity exercise per day, which is unrealistic for 99.99% of people.

If you're overweight to begin with that means you're not eating "properly". There are plenty of people that don't exercise at all (aside from their normal daily activities) that aren't overweight, so that should tell you something. It's all about diet ...

Liquid calories are the worst. Do not drink juice or soda period. Limit alcohol consumption.

lol BMI lol. Your opinion is invalid, mate.

According to "BMI" information, my weight should be 155 to be considered in the MIDDLE of the normal weight category.

I am 6'3" lol.

That's exactly the point I was making... being healthy suggests a BMI of 22 but muscle building will always be well over that because it's not a 'normal' body type is it!..

My buddy used P90X before going into the Marines to make weight. It worked. I'm trying but have some health issues that stop me from doing most of the stuff. I probably need a nutritionist and a trainer as I have a hard time eating enough and tend to push my workouts too far. BUT if I could I'd be doing the entire P90X thing instead of struggling with everything.

I did P90X when I lived in the dorm for a few months and it did wonders for me. I use a lot of the work outs whenever I go to the gym now, especially for arms.

crossfit is superior to p90x because it incorporates Olympic lifts and running. P90x is a good base for you to start crossfit cause if you start crossfit before you're in decent shape you might get fucked up lol

With P90X and Crossfit you will not specialize in any one thing. You will definitely get conditioned and definitely drop fat, unless you eat like a complete slob. You will probably get a little stronger with Crossfit and possibly a tiny bit stronger with P90X, but your endurance will go through the roof with both. Getting ripped is actually pretty easy as long as you know a little bit about eating properly and you invest 45-60 minutes 3-5 days a week into high intensity cardio and resistance training, which both Crossfit and P90X do.

Now if you want to get really strong or really jacked without concern for bodyfat, then Crossfit and P90X are not for you, at least not full-time. In this case you would require a strength gain or muscle gain routine, and should train 3-4 days a week on that routine. P90X or Crossfit could be used 2-3 times a week in addition to your strength training / bodybuilding to keep yourself lean, but the amount of cardio you do usually has an inverse relationship with the amount of muscle / strength you gain.

I personally am planning on using P90X for my cardio workouts 5 days a week, while strength training 3 days a week. The goal is to get stronger and leaner, but not necessarily much bigger. I just borrowed the disks from the neighbor to my left and the guidebook from the neighbor to my right, neither of whom have successfully completely more than 3 days of P90X Classic.

That is all.

I had a friend who used it and got in decent shape. He lost 35-40 pounds and looks like someone who might work out a little. Unfortunately he became one of those MLM assholes and tried to recruit me, introduced me to all their other Amway-like "coaches" and "team beachbody" assholes. I reluctantly signed up for their coaching thing, since at the time they had no normal affiliate program or anything. No one was buying ( most people I know download that shit or buy duplicated shit, etc). So I "resigned" my membership, and that dude decided we weren't friends anymore since I didn't want to be on his "coaching" team.

On my own ( just doing pretty much common sense eating and lifting) I got in much better shape than that guy and most of Beachbody buds.

I did P90X did the full 90 days maybe skipped a few days because of Ad:Tech

Everyone who hasn't seen me saw a HUGE difference... dropped 25lbs and got in the best shape of my life.

I didn't get Ruck ripped, but I'm happy with my results.

Agreed. Look at any guy who trains exclusively p90x or crossfit style, and they might be lean, but they definitely don't have a body that looks well built. Or even semi desirable, IMO.

Building a body that is enviable is not a quick process. It's not a matter of just getting ripped, because if you don't have any muscle underneath your fat, what is the point of hitting single digit bodyfat percentages? To look like an anorexic bitch? I'll pass.

The biggest issue is that it's counter productive to try and build muscle and lose weight at the same time. Yeah, obvious statement but so many people don't train with that in mind. Sure, it can be done, but you won't get the results you would have if you split them up and do a bulk cycle and a cutting cycle.

If you are currently a fat ass, yeah hit crossfit and p90x up hard until you lean out a little. Muscle tends to grow faster in a leaner body.

Then build some muscle. Do the compound movements like squats, deads, bench, weighted pull ups, dips, rows, military press, etc. And lift heavy. Get your nutrition in line. Since you'll be eating more calories to add weight most of it needs to be clean (you will put on some fat, but no need to go overboard), unless you are a hard gainer then you have a lot more wiggle room. Keep cardio to a minimum, or none at all. And if you do it in the AM have a small whey shake w/water before hand to keep from burning muscle mass.

After you've got some size, lean out. It's really easy for most people to get lean with the right diet, it just takes time to do it right. Add cardio slowly so you don't kill the muscle you've worked so damn hard for. Throw the crossfit stuff in instead of cardio. Cut back your calories gradually, especially your carbs. Use techniques like carb cycling to shock the system into fat loss. Don't lift light for high reps, like I hear a lot of people suggest. The lifts/weight that built the muscle will keep the muscle.

Do this cycle a couple times and look in the mirror. Congratulations, you look like a man, and you are no longer a shame to your penis, which you can now see because your gut isn't in the way.

Glad somebody knows their shit. I'm just finishing cutting , and have been since about mid-april. Soon time to start bulking over the winter months since PA likes to have cold and shitty winters.

@op- if you want to look lean then keep using p-90x. If you want to get big, get some supplements and pig the fuck out, provided it's good calories.

I did p90x for the 90 days and it transformed my body for sure. Just stick with it! Follow their diet suggestions You have to bring it to every workout!

P90X = stealing the black man's idea

Barbell weights and dumbbells >>>>>> p90x, crossfit, whatever the hell else programs there are

Anyone who is serious about losing weight and gaining muscle mass shoot me a pm i can give ya some advice

P90x or Insanity are great for people who are looking to lower their body fat percentages and improve their stamina. But even the most intense workouts in the world wont help your ass if you eat trash and eat a lot of it. Like someone else mentioned earlier, once you realize how much effort is required to burn off 500 calories it becomes really easy to switch to diet soda or green tea, not have those 4 cookies or 4 beers before bed, etc.

If you want to get ripped and improve your overall athleticism then look at Olympic lifting, crossfit, and HIIT. I love Olympic lifts because they are some of the most efficient muscle builders, make you more explosive, and are fun as fuck. Not to mention the fact that if you hit the gym hard with snatches, cleans, and deads for 45 minutes you will burn a ton of calories while also developing muscle that will continually burn more and more fat as you pack on the lean pounds. Take a look at this little fucker. He's absolutely shredded and take a look at his vert after he hits the lift...he doesnt really jump he just pops off his toes and he still gets a solid 18-24 inches in the air effortlessly:
