Democrats treat me like a Republican.

Republicans treat me like a Democrat.

But here's the way I see it:

Republicans talk about limited government and financial freedom.

Democrats talk about individual freedoms and tolerance.

But....

When Republicans are in power they spend more than Dems dreamed possible and do nothing to repeal oppressive liberal financial red tape and taxes.

When Democrats are in power they raise the minimum wage, talk about pushing more socialist programs on us and do nothing to repeal the constraints placed on personal liberty by the Republicans.

So....

Neither party makes any progress in the areas they talk about. All talk...no action. Unless the action is harmful to freedom - and our wallets.

Lastly....

I strongly feel government is home to the busy bodies at best, and the meglomaniacs at worst. They enlist the aid of bureaucratic incompetents and fail at nearly every job they take on.

Despite spending more per student on k-12 education we test horribly in comparison with the rest of the developed world.

Despite spending by some estimates 40 Billion this year on the war on drugs - drugs are still just as easy to buy as they were before the drug war began. They can't win this war because drugs are a high demand market, simple economics should tell anyone looking at this issue it's a giant losing battle.

Despite spending more per citizen than Canada (where medical is free) we still have medical bills placed on the middle class that often drive families to financial ruin. <--don't take this to mean I want socialist medicine...I don't! I want government red tape removed from medicine.

Despite rising tax rates, we still get sub-par services.

=================================

I just want a smaller government. Is it really the land of the free when at every turn you have to fill out government forms, show your government papers, and get government permission for the simplest of income opportunities?
