Now THATS a fucking Game!

I do not think is it because they did it.

It is because they did it though, the branding behind this game will be very big. The characters are already in high demand for other things.

IF Disney does get this right you have to remember they own a shit load of shit

This would open the door to a Marvel game like this, A Star Wars game like this, This will make them LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of money is his point.

Disney will do it bigger better and stronger. At least that is what the thought is.

Sure - they have resources and can do it bigger and better.

I wouldn't call it a "genius move to bring in-app purchases to the real world" after it's already been done for years. When someone gives me a virtual reality gamer helmet that doesn't burn my eyeballs out - that'll be the future of gaming.

ie. this shit

in-game purchases, lol.

I'd like to see them try it with Star Wars just to LOL at the ppl who will rage on them.

I guess I could have stressed more about how Disney movies are something that every kid knows many characters from, has a few favorites, and will want to play them in this game that all his friends at school are playing.

Sure, i've heard of in-game purchases before, and have been tempted myself once or twice by them when goofing off in said games. (Mostly kabam stuff) However, Disney's tying characters like Jack Sparrow, Buzz Lightyear, and of course Uncle Scrooge into the real world, all proven moneymakers before the game is even heard of, is what I'm talking about here.

Disney just bought lucasfilm too, so expect a good fight between Darth Maul and Guybrush Threepwood in there too before long... The saturation of people with interest in this game will show no bounds.

Can you imagine every kid at every school nationwide, plus plenty of adults too, all playing the same game at the same time?

Disney obviously did.

Those pretty games you're playing did not... They only appeal to people who play video games!

They tried it on the most impressionable market you could get for this type of thing, Anime characters, in Japan.

It didn't take off.

Maybe the weight of the Disney branding willl help in the US market, but tbh, just look at the performance of hardware peripherals in the console market, there's not a great uptake. Look at the Kinect, Look at Wii U, the playstation Move controller, whenever theres a hardware addon to software, people are quick to spot the gimmick and will inevitably resort back to normal controller + game. I don't see anything new here that will revolutionise the way people think, i just see a big brand rehashing something thats been done before.

And Monkey Island fans would roll in their grave at the thought of a game where they are fighting against Darth Maul........... MI was back when gaming was based on 'gameplay' ...... this is a different era and demographic altogether. Disney are not targeting Monkey Island fans.

Time will tell though i suppose, but imo this is a big brand jumping on a very 'old hat' bandwagon.

Sorry to break it to you, You died of Cholera on my wagon.

So did Dark Cognative, and Eldarion too.

Jryan21 survived, but he had a broken arm, a broken leg, 2 cases of cholera, and of course typhoid fever.

Top that, biotch!

Luke

Eldarion

In Luke's orig post I noticed all the bullets, and it seemed odd, but then thought maybe that's normal because I have never played the game.
Then saw Eldarion's and realized, no, it's just Luke.

This one is going to be free to play, don't know how much longer before they open the beta:

Command & Conquer

This!

Been waiting so long for this to come out, built on the frostbite engine too (same as the latest battle field). CnC and Left 4 Dead 2 are the only games I play.

New CnC looks amazing.

Yeah, It's been a good quarter of a Century now (!) since I played it last; I guess I bought too many bullets. ;) I also forgot that starting out as the banker means starting out on the "easy level." Oh well.

So just for you, I played it again on the hardest level and found a way to make some more money by giving blowjobs in the game to other wagon owners passing by:

Top that score, Eldarion!

I dislike Disney.

The only reason I can see this working is because they have years upon years of characters rights and developed already, tons of fans, and unlimited money to fund it.

This is not going to be anything 'awesome' or 'game changing' IMO.

I actually kind of love this game. In order to make it as a farmer but still do well I have to put most of my money into oxen and everything thats left into anything but food. Farmers have to hunt if they are gonna make it. So I leave on the first month which is normally a bad idea but instead of going anyway spend everyday hunting. Then I start going next month. Usually when my guys start getting sick instead of waiting I'll hunt, it works the same way and gets you some food. I had to hunt a lot actually ran out of bullets at one point and had to barter for some. I also save some money to use for ferrys and the toll road. Best thing to do is right before you reach oregon sit and rest until everyone is in good health for maximum points.

Some stuff I remember

Farmers have better luck with oxen, they will get sick and die less

Carpenters have better luck at repairing the wagon without having to use parts.
