If I were a Native American and got $80k, I'd get $80k of liquor just to reinforce the stereotypes.
I lol'd this one.....

The Cherokee Nation owns a bunch of casinos, liquor stores etc, the profits of which are part reinvested, part distributed amongst all the members of the nation, leading to a bunch of Indians who have a nice bonus every year
It's about nothing else.I guess it's all about profit in the long run.
Correct, but they also pay zero taxes (property, income, etc) on revenues generated from the casinos. We're a treasure to the Caesars name, as "management fees" are a percentage of net income, and ours is the highest, simply as a result of zero property/income tax.
Think of it this way. There is another, non-reservation casino that makes close to what we do on a monthly basis. After taxes and fees, their numbers are crap. They pay the management about $940K a month. We pay the management about $4.3 million a month.
I guess it's all about profit in the long run.
Spend your time being pissed about what other people get unfairly and you'll never get anything yourself.

The Indian Casino's are bullshit. Either make gambling and casino's legal everywhere or not legal at all.
This thing that we owe the Indians is crap.
I do not give a crap if they have casinos, but making it so I cannot because I am Dutch - that's BS.
Do you feel the same about lottery tickets? Walmart and everyone else is banned from having their own lottery tickets. State governments have a tax-free monopoly on them and take in a lot more money than the casinos.
Treaties were signed giving them the right to control certain aspects of their government, just like the feds allow Nevada some leeway in how their state is run. At state levels, store owners in certain counties are banned from selling alcohol or Hustler magazine, but those in the next door county are not.
It's because you reside in a certain area of land that is defined by imaginary lines. The natives cannot set up a casino in Hollywood, whereas you can in Vegas.
On December 1st, each and every enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians received over $4,000 for their "per capita income". No catch, just for being an enrolled member.
That's eight grand for being Native American/EBCI. Per year. I raged when I found this out. Then I found this out.
My acquaintance (hate this fuck) was talking about the bonus they get when they turned 18. I asked how much, assuming it was around the same as a per cap check. He told me he got a little bit over $80,000.
For turning 18. They pay for your college education, medical expenses, etc etc. He bought a Volkswagen Tiguan, put a $10K down payment on a house, and spent the rest on weed and alcohol within a year. Now he has nothing.
Jelly aside.
What would you do with $80,000 when you turn 18, if you were able to go back to that age with the knowledge you have now of the world?
The feds are not allowing "leeway" - its states rights.
Either gambling is legal or it is not - this pussy footing around the issue giving favoritism to certain groups is crap.
The natives can set up a casino in Vegas just as I can. But I cannot set up a casino wherever they can.
Damn.. and still Edward Cullen gets to fuck BellaThe small Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux tribe here with the closest casino to the MSP metro area gives members about $250k and a piece of land when they turn 18, then around $80,000/month from casino profits after that if they keep their "main" residence on the reservation. They get checks every two weeks for almost $40k.
Im enough % Cherokee for it, don't care
Seminole Tribe bought the Hard Rock cafe from bingo money
