My 6 Week Old Chocolate Lab Has Parvo Please Help...

BAD NEWS- I took him home yesterday at 3pm cause the vet said he was doing well and could go home. Around 10pm last night he has bloody diarrhea and started to vomit. He hasn't eaten or drank anything in 12 hours and has been pooping blood/vomiting every 30 minutes. I called the vet on her cell and she is making an extra trip on her day off to the vet office to meet me there and get him back on the iv and his meds. He is in horrible condition right now. He will most likely need another 2-3 days of hospital treatment, costing another $1,500. Please help if you can anything at all I am devastated.

You can try telling the vet to hand over all your paperwork and say you are going to shop around at other vets to see if they can offer a better deal. They will most likely give you a deal and not let you walk out of the door. I've cut a vet surgery bill from $5k+ to $3k by doing this, could've been more aggressive as well. Good luck.

We just visited him. Overnight his white blood cell count bottomed out and his protein levels are dropping. They are doing a plasma transfusion and waiting 24 hours to see if there is any improvement. They must see improvement by tomorrow and if try don't we will discuss "further options". Please pray for my chocolate lab.

You mean like getting a job to pay your own vet bills? Or a money manager will sit you down and speak about the basics of not taking on personal and financial commits which you inadequately prepared handle?

I wish the best for your pup, but coming back for a second round of handouts is a bit much.

$3,000 for a crate and some IV fluids? Man, I knew I shoulda been a vet. You people are crazy. I'd have my family euthanised if they cost that much in medical bills, never mind a dog.

I would hardly spend this much on a kid if I had one, let alone a dog.

wait wut.

I wish your dog the best of recovery, I've got two dogs that are the best friends a person could ask for.

Sorry to hear about your puppy man. I really hope he pulls through. A few things though.

1. Your "breeder" is a complete fucking douche bag. 6 weeks is barely enough time. 8 weeks is the correct amount of time and 12 weeks is even better. You will likely have a very anxious dog due to that fact that he was taken away from the litter too soon. I speak from experience as my Black Lab was taken away from her litter at 6 weeks.

2. You really should speak to the breeder and tell him to pay the bill.

3. I can't believe how expensive it is in the states.
