I really like Windows 8 including the new start screen.
Hitting the Windows Key, then clicking a program shortcut on the start screen is faster than navigating the old start menu for me. If I want to run a program that I did not add to the start screen, pressing the Windows Key, typing the first few letters of the program name, then hitting enter to run it is also much faster than navigating the old style start menu with a mouse or trackpad.
I haven't seen a crash yet on it, and I also use VLC player quite often.
