Moving to Windows 8

I really like Windows 8 including the new start screen.

Hitting the Windows Key, then clicking a program shortcut on the start screen is faster than navigating the old start menu for me. If I want to run a program that I did not add to the start screen, pressing the Windows Key, typing the first few letters of the program name, then hitting enter to run it is also much faster than navigating the old style start menu with a mouse or trackpad.

I haven't seen a crash yet on it, and I also use VLC player quite often.

You can do that on win7 too.
As for me, I'm not planning to move to 8, will wait until windows 9 comes out :)

I don't understand why anyone would move to the newest version of windows without waiting for a "Service Pack" "Re-Release" or whatever the fuck they call it that basically means the beta testing customers finished catching the worst bugs.

I mean, isn't it common knowledge that Microsoft beta tests products on earlier adopter consumers?

Applying twisted logic from 1998 doesnt apply to Windows 7.

Windows 7 has always been stable and good, for the majority, it's been a great product from the start.

Why would you want to move to DOS and Windows hybrid? Some guy even called this multitasking killing crap "Microsoft Window". So, stop calling it Windows what is only a Window.

Why u no virtual instal?

I don't normally argue against things that I agree with, but when I do, I use an exception to a rule to prove that is what generally happens. - Name 1 other Windows operating system like 7 which had minimal debugging on it's first version.

One of the worst aspects of Windows 8 for power users is that the product's very name has become a misnomer. "Windows" no longer supports multiple windows on the screen. Win8 does have an option to temporarily show a second area in a small part of the screen, but none of our test users were able to make this work. Also, the main UI restricts users to a single window, so the product ought to be renamed "Microsoft Window."

Because that's a horrendous waste of time. I have to learn and feel windows 8 to make sure what I'm doing plays with it, why do that in a virtual machine where it won't work as well, and I can't adequately test accelerated games. This was also touched on in the original post - two strikes, lol.

Same reason I don't just run a VNC server on another windows machine and connect to it from my preferred linux distro.

I only have one complaint, and I've noticed it across both my notebook and desktop, and that's the dragging on mouse press. Doesn't always release on MouseUp. Fucking obnoxious.

Solved by turning off "Click Lock" in mouse properties.

So far I'm pretty happy, except for one thing (again, lol). There are no working two finger scroll drivers for my touchpad on my notebook. Luckily, I rarely leave the house so I'm usually at my desktop.

That's what the 'Consumer Preview', 'Developer Preview' and 'Release Preview' were for!

That's only because Windows 7 was basically the "service pack" for Vista.

This sure looks like multiple windows on my screen right now....
