Microsoft Masters of Marketing

Lets all wait a few days and see if "heads roll' due to this major change. If no one gets fired and it launches on time then I am right and you all need to revisit this topic. If it ends up a panic'ed cluster fuck I will retract my statements and say you were all right and knew better than Microsoft.

A microsoft engineer posted this on 4chan like ,before this change came out. And i was kinda swayed by his argument and now I am kinda disappointed, they went back.

We also had someone at a marketing firm hired by Microsoft leak info on Reddit and was fired. No proof given much like the 4chan deal. It was deleted since no proof was given but was saved into this post.

Starting Monday, Microsoft is planning to flood online forums with positive Xbox One comments : HailCorporate

That's not at all what I said. You certainly do not need to use a third party plugin to run the operating system successfully, it works perfectly fine. You CAN use one if you are incapable of coping with change though.

So by running 3rd party plugins, from your own words again, you're incapable of coping with change. Something obviously failed on Microsoft's side for you to want to have the "OLD" experience which you are re-living by using 3rd party plugins. So Win 8 < Win 7.

Windows 8 is beautiful to look at but why do I want an interface designed for touchscreens on my pc monitor? What irks me is this: the old interface, the old desktop is there so why the fuck couldn't they have integrated a "boot to desktop" button/setting? Basically that's "take it and like it, but just in case you hate it (we suspect you will) we'll leave a backdoor here" And yes there are workarounds/plugins but that doesn't change that this is the most poorly received version since vista. Microsoft promises to stop the madness in their next release, Blue

They are finally throwing in the towel, Permanent Blue-screen of death...

I wonder if the Marketing Department can't figure out that calling it "Blue" might invoke the thought of Blue Screen of Death, I mean who is running that department? They can't get anything right... The person who is naming this shit should be fired "XBox One" there is already an XBox 1, "Blue"... jesus.

It works just like Win 7 with some small performance improvements and the start menu is different. Oh, and you could use the apps if you really wanted to, but don't have to at all.

The start menu and apps are really the only difference, and you can fix the start menu with a small 3rd party plugin. Otherwise my day to day experience with Win 8 is EXACTLY like it was with Win 7. I fail to see what is so horrible about that?

Perhaps the person you're quoting didn't like Win 7 either.

I haven't liked a Win release since XP. I did buy a new touchscreen laptop just to play with Win 8, but ended up putting ubuntu on the machine after a couple days. Nothing in particular w/ Win 8 that annoys me - it's just that it's Windows, and I gave up on that years ago.

Any examples of "ingenious" marketing from Microsoft is strictly an accident, IMHO. They're so uncool, they ran ads that played up product value rather than the coolness factor.

Microsoft has always been a "me too" legacy company that drags a lot of old technology and code into their "new" releases. Their strength is mainly in the entrenched DOS/Wintel desktop user base circa 1986. Things haven't gone well for MS since tablets and mobile began taking over.

My only thought on this is that I am glad GTA5 will be on the 360. It's the only game I play (IV), and it means I will have a few years use at least left in the 360. I'll get which ever console plays GTA VI best when that comes out in 4-5 years time. I have no brand loyalty, both are shitty corps that have a resumé of evilness.

The whole long dribble of console arguments makes me wonder about people. People seem to have more passion about PS4 vs XBone or iphone vs android than anything that is actually important. Crazy shit.

I mean, who the fuck cares which is technically better, has the least restrictions - it's the games that matter, surely? At least it was back when I wanted to play Cannon Fodder, Starfox, Sonic or Quake :)

You do know that Windows 7 is XP, but without all the crashes? Window's 7 is the best version since Windows 3

Bullshit, Microsoft didn't plan this. It's simply not capable of carrying out a marketing campaign like that.

There's NO WAY MS planned this. None. I mean all this shit, for something to what, improve sales?! As if. It's been a PR disaster from the word go, heads will probably roll over it.

I mean think about the latest IE ad. It's saying we care about your privacy, I mean that's like the least engaging pitch I've heard.

Besides, anyone who's noticed the evolution of MS over the years knows they've been itching to have draconian controls since Media player 11. They've always wanted to prevent their shit being pirated and want to be paid extra for the pleasure. Xbox One was a perfect fit and clear extension and progression of their desire for controls on content.

They're too large, too slow and too stuck in their ways to deliberately have a campaign based around, "hey, we're gonna fuck you, without lube, for every penny we can, you scummy cunt," and then change their mind. No chance.

The company is run by idiots, not geniuses of advertising engaged in deep psychological warfare on the minds of the consumer.

^ This. Let's assume for a minute MS did in fact plan this, that's one huuugeee fucking gamble. Imagine if there hadn't been as big of an outcry over the shitty Xboner? They'd be up shit creek since they didn't get free press and no one would buy their console anyway.

MS just sucks dick and if people are dumb enough to buy the console now that they switched back to no DRM they're in for a surprise down the road, guarantee it.

Micorsoft is an enterprise company. The xbox is just a side project that happens to get an inordinate amount of media attention. They aren't freaking out. they aren't in trouble.

The words that come out of your mouth continue to baffle me. Do you do any actual marketing?

I just wanted people to read this again.

Fuck you Microstupidfuckingcunts;

Yeah, that's the ONLY reason people might like to have to old start menu back  Stop taking everything so literally and stop putting words in my mouth.

Get your facts straight. It will be marketed as Windows 8.1 to the public, not "Blue".

The words that come out of your mouth continue to baffle me.

What part of what he said did you fail to understand?
